Default G-Body performance?

Just wondering what kind of track times you guys are seeing with swaps of any lsx combo in g-body cars. If you could give me a couple examples, going to build one and wanted an idea of how they run. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Well I was running 14.2-13.88 with a 5.3L 4l60e 3.73 dual exhaust x pipe and stock stall. Swapped to a 6.0L and went to 13.9-13.6. Now I`m swapping a hot cam in as we speak....

I finished my swap in August (5.3/4L60E in '87 Monte Carlo SS), and I ran a best 13.58 @ 103 mph. I have the 2001 LS6 cam in the 5.3, dual exhaust, Fbody manifolds, stock truck intake and accessories.

Smile El camino times

While I havent gotten my LS2 in the car yet. My El Camino has gone consistent 13.80s @ 100.xx, 2.2 short time, on street tires. Motor is 94 Trans Am with 150k miles, bone stock, bone stock tune, 3.73 gears, 4L60E, stock Stall.

Stock LS1 should go well into the 13's, put a cam and your in the 12s.

By the way, my 86 Elky weighs 3850 with me in it.

Sorry, left that out! Yes, stock converter (2000 silverado), 8.5" posi rear end with 3.73:1 ratio. Tires are Kuhmo 235/60 R15's. After the track run, I've added Magnaflow straight-thru mufflers and a Spectre cold air intake.

I stuck a 00 ls1 in my 87 ls with a cam close to 600 lift a 3600 yank 4l65e 8.5 posi with a 4.10 and 2.5 exhaust with loudmouths wheels and tires and facotry tune (car wouldn't even idle on its own and shifted too early) and it went 8.1s in the 8th

13.7's bone stock and numbers in signature with the LS7 and DOT tires with a soft 4K launch.

Hmm that is very similar to the combo I had, minus the cam and I`m running kuhmo 225/60/15`s and was running flowmasters. Wonder why I was so much slower, the flowmasters weren`t that restrictive, only a couple PSI max.

Now I have straight through magnaflow knockoffs, 2.5 duals with an X and I`m in the middle of swapping to a hot cam right now.

Dont forget altitude.. Not sure where Foggy lives but Joliet is right around 650ft. Might be a factor, might not.. just thought I would mention..

I ran a best of 12,92 @ 103 mph on a very windy day. car is daily driver, full weight, carbed and cammed lq4, 700r4 with 3500 stall and 3,73. i took slicks from a friend but they were for a cavalier (24,5) too small, slipping a bit but 1,79 60ft. stock truck exhaust manifolds with 2 1/4 dual exhausts maybe restrictives so looking for mid twelves
next summer with good exhaust, tires and tuning. maybe a 4,10 gear could be good too, what you think ???

LOL actually I just looked at his vid...looks like he was running at cordova which is where I was running with the 6.0L. Air was pretty good the day I was out there, temps in the low 60`s. I have never run at 66, too busy and too few runs for me. Either 41 or cordova.

I just got the car back running this morning...now with a hot cam. Feels a little stronger down low, but really starts to pull harder above 80. Its not very happy with the stock cam tune though.

You're right, that was Cordova. I ran at a track rental day on Oct. 7, 2009 (middle of the week). The temps were in the low 70's, if I'm not mistaken. A pretty warm day. I'd have to look in an almanac to make sure.

There was slight tuning involved in my engine. I think we bumped the timing up to 32 deg, WOT, and I had the tow/haul mode shift at 5000 rpm, WOT. Without tow/haul, I ran a 13.8 or so.

Why you going to drive 3 hrs to Cordova when Byron is like an hour from Chicago?

Bryon is further than that, I don`t think even I can make it in an hour. I usually race at US41, but I went to cordova last time because it was a track rental day for the MFBA = more passes (41 that day). It was only a little over a 2 hour drive there....the caravan there was a bit slower than most of the time, just under 2 hours on the way home
