Oh I don't know, how about hydroplaning at 50mph on the highway. You just cant have 4" of flat rubber in the center of the tread and expect wet weather performance. Beside, the OP seems to be interested in more of a raod course performance out of his street tire not a drag style setup. JMHO

It's got an IRS. If this had been a drag car, I suspect that it wouldn't have since this was a clean sheet build.
No offence to drag racers, but the sort of tracks I prefer have corners on them - in both directions - and I drive my cars in the rain...
Tire-rack has really cheap Hankooks for the C5 that donated the wheels. The reviews weren't awful. Anyone ever use them?

Yes. There's at least one more piece that has to go in around the solenoid for reverse lockout, and a bunch of gussetting that still has to be done.
There's also a hoop going under the dash that some of this stuff will tie into. Body has to be on for that though.
Just as a reminder, this is the stock frame:
(Actually it's a new version of stock, but you get the idea). Compared to this thing, it has significantly more stiffness because there's something tieing in front and rear in the third dimension. As a bonus, it weighs less than stock too.

It's been a dogs age since I posted anything here. Bodywork is taking a lot longer than I'd hoped - NOS panels for these cars are a pretty crappy fit.
The interior looks something like this right now. It's changing because I'm changing the dash out to something a bit custom.
Exterior broadly looks like this. There's a bit more work to do, but it's getting there.
I spent a little time uploading stuff to phoca last night, so the galleries on the site are somewhat more complete. I still need to go through and caption them, but they'll do to give you the idea of the work done at least.
Anyway, the car's still in progress. It's taking longer than I'd have liked, but these things do...

I have run Hankooks on both my 91 Z28 and 99 Firebird WS6. They performed very well in both wet and dry conditions. They do NOT like the cold! Many years ago, I drove a friends Spitfire with a Chevy 327 in it and stock front brakes. One quick pass and I brought it straight back to him. Went like a scalded cat and stopped in a city block or so. Great looking build! Good luck.
