Or you could pop the sensor out and look in there at the obvious differences in reluctor rings

Easier to pull the sensor and check whether it has assymetrical teeth 24X or symetrical 58X.

A 58X sensor requires a 5V power supply. Not sure whether you will see anything without this as never tried it without the 5V.

Not if its gen III, so any 99-06 iron block 6.0 will swap in. 01+ engines have alum heads, but they wont affect the harness

NOTE: I am resurrecting this thread from the dead to stamp out a bit of misinformation.

While Speartech's rhetoric is admirable, the information is wrong. My '06 Silvy with an L33 has a 58x reluctor wheel. While it's not an LQ4, it is a Classic body style. The transition years for the 24x v 58x reluctor wheel was between '05 and '06. This applies across all models of GM vehicles sporting the LS style engines.

sparkwirez06 had it nailed earlier with the grey (58x) v black (24x) sensor. If you are getting an engine, pull the sensor and look at the wheel. Very easy to tell.

@Speartech - Before you get upity, you really need to check your facts, because you are all kinds of wrong here.

There's no such thing as a 58X LQ4. The LQ4 by definition is a 24X engine.

The are NO 58X Silverado Classics.

The Classic was a phase out model in 2007. They are basically leftover 2006 models that were being replaced by the new body style Silverado during 2007.

ALL of the Silverado Classics are 24X engines.

Here's a typical LS style PCM (Blue/Green) that is used with the late style trucks from 2003 to 2007 (Classic):

This PCM isn't "programmed" for 24X or 58X as one of your statements eludes to. It is a PCM for a 24X LS type engine and can NOT be "programmed" for a 58X engine.

Here are the ECM's (an E38 and an E67) that are used with 58X engines (2007 NBS and later):

The E38 is what you would find in a 2007 and later NBS truck. You won't find this ECM in ANY Silverado Classic.

You sent us a truck harness and Blue/Green PCM as shown in the top picture to be reworked and reprogrammed.

If you have a 58X engine, why did you send us a 24X harness and PCM??

Everything in this thread was factual until YOU started replying with your misinformation.

One thing is certain. It’s not a 52. 😉

You mean 24 or 58. Being all LQ9's are Gen III, it will be 24x.
