Im curious, im bored, and want to look into possibly doing this.. How much work, fabricating, money is into one of these.. I would like to do it with a 69" camaro but dont think its feesible for me now, i think an rx7 would be cheaper in the long run to make faster. Thanks.

1st, 2nd, or 3rd gen?

If 2nd, I can hook you up.

I am currently doing a 3rd gen right now. The k-member and trans crossmember is nicely done. I just finished the headers and I'm trying to get 3" exhaust under the car. It definitely looks like a death trap with the LS1 in there. 2700lbs of Japanese unibody with AMERICAN torque and horsepower is going to be scary.

I know this is kind of off topic, but What do you guys pay for insurance on your RX7's.
And can you give me the age of the person the vehicle is insured under.
I was thinking of selling my LS1 powered 72 Camaro, and was thinking of this car for my next project. Im 25 no accidents no tickets and my insurance company want to charge me 2,000 every six months for full coverage. This seems pretty high to me, just wondering what everyone else was paying.
Thanks
Bill

I'm 34, married, no wrecks, no tickets.

The cars: '87 Turbo II (LS1 T-56), '86 base (LT1 T-56), 92 Accord 2 door......

Monthly damage is $129.00 for all 3 cars, full coverage, $0 deductable, State Farm.

When I was single, the '87 TII w/ LS1 was about $16 a month for the same coverage. My wife brought me a less than perfect driving record, so it's all higher now.

Ls1 powered...you ever considered doing something with the accord? i'm sure you heard of the ATTACK kit.

how is the rx-7 rear/axle taking that torque? what are its limits?

When the Accord gets tired, it'll get some attention.

As long as you use the Turbo II rear, it's all good! I have friends in the 9's using them. The mounts break before anything else, and there are good mods known the them.

Using a low mileage LS1 with 6 speed would cost about 7000 including the car. If the car is not in "perfect shape". It takes a good bit of work but it is worth it. Btw, I have a 87 RX7 with a LT1 engine.

Double the $7K for the FD. $7000 for an FC if you get a screaming deal on the car and the powertrain, and dont leave yourself much for upgrades.

The best way that I can put it is after you but a car, motor, and transmission add at least $2000 for all the other parts needed.

Default Help me build motor!!!

Well, I'm about to be doing this. Got my car, gonna paint it this weekend. It's an 84 GSL, good condition. I plan to throw a 350 in there but here I need some help on this stuff...

Went to go get this one guys opinion on what I should do with this motor, he builds his own race cars and all that and he's done some work on my friends ls1 camaro. I told him about the 350 with vortec heads I'm gettin, and I'm just gonna highlight some of the things he told me...

-Vortec heads are basically crap, not worth the money in the long run, I should spend the lil less than 1k$ to get better heads...

-383 stroker kit is crap, it'll only give me maybe 30 hp if I'm lucky. Not worth it and basically same potential as the regular motor.

-I could build the 350 to be just as fast as with the 383 if I just upgraded all the internals, excluding the crank.

-Stroker kits all have crappy parts.

What are your opinions on all of that?

Anyways, help me build my motor, please! This is a learning thing for me, I really don't know anything about chevys. This is like my light street and track car because my daily is a 4 banger.

Anyways, if you're looking for mount kits and stuff I can give you some good links. Just PM me. My aim name is KesMiaz.

peace,
-Matt
