Default Finding parts to add distributer to LS

Hi there, I have been running a dirt late model for a few years and wanted to put together a new engine and nobody is running a LS engine and I have a LM7 engine that I want to build. Only because the rules I have to run a steel block and carb and distributor. My understanding is that the LM7 block will take LS1 heads and all, I think that GMPP makes a kit to add a distributor, but cant seem to track it down. Does anybody else make a kit to change over to dist? And am I right about the LM7 block? Just think I can get more power from this settup than a old small block.
Thanks Rob

There are a lot of places to buy the front mounted distributor kits. I've seen them on Summit's web site and I know Wegner Motorsports has them. They make at least part of the kit, and probably Scroggin Dickey, who is a sponsor on here has it, and probably other sponsors, also. There are several pieces to the kit and it's not cheap.I guess they won't let you run the MSD box ?? As to whether other LS parts will fit an LM7, the answer is yes to a lot of them. The later 5.3's (at least some) had #799 heads which are pretty much the same as #243 heads and either would be better than the LS1's, IMO.

Straight from the GM Performance parts catalog page 225.

Part # 88958679.

Uses small block ford distributor and fuel pump. Special water pump, accessory drive and damper are required.

Weird part is it doesn't list a part number for the water pump or accessory drive.

thanks, I had no idea that that many people made a kit to doit! I looked everywhere I could think of, but I guess not hard enough LOL. They will let us run a MSD box but cant be individual coils has to have dist (cause it would be too hard to tech, could sneak traction control in and cut cylinders out.)

I think it is because ford makes only a few reliable parts that Chevy doesn't... the 9 inch rear axle and that distributor. J/K

The reason for the ford dist is the gen3s have a new firing order that's the same as a sbf using a chevy dist wouldn't work

Except that you can hook the plug wires to a dist to get any firing order you wish.

Believe me, I've done it

contact wegner motorsports. they have an accessory kit that comes with everything you need including the water pump and balancer.

from my research you need the ATI drill fixture and the ATI crank hub according to the GM parts book.

just look up the front cover kit on summits website and view the PDF instructions and parts list.
