Buy the best body you can afford, its alway cheaper than fixing them! The rust is a minimum of 2x worse than you think....I'll never do one that had this much again, too expensive..but, i said that last time..lol

yea, I got the first sprayout...gold was way too dark... if it was correct car would be sprayed tomorrow.. prob 2 more weeks till I get the color issues worked out..
in the meantime, I miss my car.. .

The painter spent some extra time blocking out the car, so only the underside of the hood and trunklid are gold at the moment. I haven't see it, I just moved last week and have been busy just trying to get the new house functional.. but the new place is on 3.2 acers, so my next build thread will be a garage-mahal!

Well, its gold again, the pics really dont capture the color at all (dads 2000 era camera doesn't help I'm sure..), the closest of the color s the the shot of the back panel.. the car has 4 coats of color and one of clear on it. it is being bolted back together and then getting 3 more coats of clear, with the associated sanding buffing, ect..then the back panel gets blacked out...

very exciting to see it painted again..

This is a terrible shot of the color, not what it looks like at all..

front end and doors are back on the car and aligned, its almost ready for the next 3 coats of clear..

Its a custom mix, started with PPG Gold Dust Metallic, and added a bunch of silver to it.

meh.. it will go quick...it needs to, gotta get it to the lady that installs the vinyl top

i was able to get some pics of it assembled.. some more panel tweaking and then 4 more coats of clear left to go, then the blacked out tail, some of the wet sanding had already been started in the pics..

Final coat of clear is on, it will be wet sanded, buffed, then the tail panel blackout... I'll see it in person next week, last time i saw it was 4th of july..

ignore the Old milwakee...lol we should bring my painter on powertour..
