LS2/LQ4 into a Corvette C3
I have the opportunity to buy a LS2/LQ4 (LS2 engine for the hummer H2 2003)
Will it fit in a C3 with a T56 behind? I know LS1 is possible but will that LQ4 fit? It's a 6.0 liters
What modification needed if any, changing the pan or accessories?
What do you think
I'm looking for a 80-82, unrusted, driveable, under $ 5k
Checking the LQ4 tomorrow (which is a LS1, not a LS2 as listed) but still more torque as you said due to the big bore
Need to know manual/auto trans, rear end ratio, power steering, accessories you'll run, all info on the LQ (VVT?), all the details you can provide.
Also check out the LS swap sticky on corvetteforum.com:

Will be Converted to T56
Rear end ratio unknown
Will be custom hood, that was planned even if the engine fits in

Intake: No way the truck intake will fit under any vette hood. You can swap out an LS1/ intake rails/injector/injector plugs cheaply/easily. The 3 bolt truck TB will work fine on the LS intake.
Accessories: The truck alternator is too high. Easiest solution is to swap out an F body crank pulley and accessory brackets. You'll need to drill/tap one block hole for the alt bracket. If you want AC, that will require more mods. If you want to keep the truck spacing, Kwik performance makes brackets, or I made my own (link below).
Water pump: The truck pump outlet will hit the DBW TB pass. side motor. If you go f body setup, you're fine. A different inlet will be needed too (CSR). The heater inlet/outlet will hit the pass. side upper A arm. You'll need to modify with elbows.
Oil pan: Truck is way too big, F body or vette will work. Check corvetteforum for steering clearance on someones else with your aftermarket steering. That should also give you an idea on which mount will work best too.
Mounts: There are 3 mounting locations, most with the T56 move the engine forward from stock so the shifter is close to stock location. See pan/steering note above too.
Trans: Shifter modified to match vette offset. Crossmember modified for T56. Hydraulic clutch added. Driveshaft modidied/shortened.
Exhaust: Lots to choose from(OEM/aftermarket) if you dont have to clear a z bar.
Fuel system: Walbro 255 external pump with 02 vette filter/regulator. I swapped out my vette line with new aluminum hardline, others have used S/S flex.
There are a hundred misc parts, check out the corvette forum for the vette specific stuff.
