Default Spectra EFI tank ?

I just recieved my Spectra EFI tank for my LSx swap. I wanted to remove the pump assembly to make sure the insides where clean as some people mentioned finding debris insides theirs. I always figured I would be able to figure out to remove a sending unit. After looking at this, I am feeling very stupid. Anybody have any suggestions?

thanks,
Jim

turn the lock ring that's under the retainer (usually takes a few taps with a punch and hammer to get it started)

let us know what you find, been some discussion on chevelles.com lately that have steered me away from that particular combination. ...although it would be rather convenient.

I got it apart. I thought the locking ring went counter clock wise so the locking tabs on the ring went past the tabs on the tank. Actually, it goes clock wise. to loosen/remove. I would think it would have some sort of "positive lock" but doesn't anywho.

The tank and baffle were clean and the pump mounting bracket were perfect. NO corrosition(sp) I got the tank from Tanks-to-pans.com. I called for availability. The non vented tank were on back order from Spectra. They listed a vented tank and had it in stock in their distribution center. I ordered it Wednesday and recieved it Friday.
There was abount 5 dings in the top. No damage to the foam wrap or box so it was done at Spectra. Rest of the tank thats visible once installed was PERFECT.

I didn't know where my wife has the camera so I was unable to take any pics. It looked just like the pics I found from another forum. I will try to post

Has anyone been able to pinpoint the apparent fuel starvation issues with these tanks at less than full levels? I have one of these in my Chevelle and when the fuel level gets to about halfway, any sharp cornering produces a big fuel starvation and the engine sputters for a minute until the fuel pressure comes back up. It runs fine otherwise at all fuel levels.

Looking at the pics, does the baffling in the tank seem to be sufficent enough to keep the gas around the pickup in corners and are those two small holes in the ridges at the bottom of the sump the fuel flow into that area? If so, that doesn't seem like enough, does it?

If your engine is needing quite a bit of fuel thats typical of any abody with the fuel pick up in the stock location. That is why you see sumped tanks.

My LS1 is stock and is installed in a stock 'vert so no extraordinary fuel requirements here, unless the Spectra pump setup can't even keep up with the minimum requirements. The starvation is almost instantaneous when you corner sharply with a mid level fuel load and you get on the throttle. It is hard to imagine that the sump loses all of the fuel and the pump runs dry which causes the motor to stumble all in an instant.

How old is your Spectra EFI tank? Did you ever check the inside to see if you have a baffle/pan as shown in the prevous pics? Maybe you have some other fuel problems. Poss a bad pump or someothe obstuction.
