I'm putting a 5.3L with a 212/218 cam in this truck along with MII, 4 link, air bags, 10 bolt, etc. I'm taking a little bit of a different direction though, going to use a carburetor and a 4 speed manual O/D transmission. I plan to relocate the coil packs and use finned valve covers for "the look". In the parts gathering phase right now, I have a clean extra frame, the engine and transmission.

Are any of you using an s10 frame for your truck? If so what kit are you using. I picked up an s10 frame recently and I'm looking at a kit fom advanced engineering. Any input would be appreciated.

I am using a s10 frame. We just made out own mounts on the frame. We have a long way to go before it's on the road.

I just used the stock rubber mounts from the s10 & welded a piece of 3x4 square tubing to the frame. On the rear I used the factory 54 chev mounts bolted to the s10 frame.
It's a junk yard build, I don't want to post any pics.
This is a good read, he made some badasss mounts: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...&highlight=s10

I'm doing an S-15 GMC version of the S-10 regular cab, long bed 2wd. I'm planning to bag it, right now i'm finishing up a rear 4 link. Building my own mounts from some of the pics of seen around.
Anyone with the S10 frame have you mounted the engine yet? Where did you place it?

Here's my custom core support, which holds together the approximately 18 pieces of sheet metal in the front end of my truck. Pain in the ***...

(this image is with a 350 Vortec that I was initially going to use, but right after custom mounts were fabricated to mount it, I got a good deal on a 5.3l, so that was a waste of time...also the engine doesn't have anything supporting it in the rear, so it is tilted back big time)
I still have to create the frame mounts for the core support. That part should be easy though, after the many weekends spent working on this thing. There's also lots of clearance issues with the steering box, but hopefully with my custom fittings those issues are solved.
Mine's a 1941 GMC going on a 2003 S-10 chassis with a 4x4 rear end equipped with disc brakes, and I have a 1999 5.3l for it. I recently started working on the wiring harness for the engine.

I'd highly consider using a kit now, instead of doing it myself. I was concerned that the truck would sit way too high on the frame though (which is probably the case. if the kit doesn't require raising the bed floor up, I would think it would look like a 4x4).
I've got de-arched springs, lowering blocks, 2" drop spindles, and 2" lowering springs awaiting installation. Will probably end up with an air bag setup in the future.

new to the site and the game. just got a line on a 57 chevy truck, was a daily driver till it became part of the estate. looking to put a 5.3 with 4L60E 2wd. anybody got any pointers on what to use and what not to use? thinking of getting a wrecked doner truck, like maybe an avalanche, and hopefully hooking up all the accesories like keyless entry, power doors, memory seats etc. don't know if it will all fit or is feasible electronically. don't want to hack the dash and stuff either so hope to find a supplier for guages etc that can be mase to work-non digital.anybody got any ideas and pics? front end suggestions, rear end suggestions?
