Default 68 impala/LQ 4 swap EVAP Purge Solenoid

2007 chevy 1500hd 6.0 swapped into my 68 impala and it is idling very rough plus the check engine light is blinking. Has anyone eliminated that whole purge solenoid set up? Should I attempt to attch that to my car, havent seen any other swaps where anybody has included that EVAP canister near the fuel system? Any tip or suggestions? Thanks.

I eliminated it because of hood clearance issues. Turn off the function with tuning. I use a breaker valve mounted above the rear axle to vent the fuel tank. It is around 1 psi for in and out to open.

I took the whole solenoid off the intake and covered the hole. Now it is idling good, but my drive by wire set-up is giving me problems. And I have to keep the throttle body uncovered or it stalls out ( I can't put the cold air intake back on)

I did away with the whole setup also, the code if flashed out of the PCM. I use the vacuum port to connect it to my original Charcoal Canister... that way the fume are vented through it.

bczee- thanks buddy, didn't want to bug you with emails this weekend. I think I am gonna let the local hot rod shop finish it from here though.
