I have a 4.8 in a 2007 silverado that runs 13.70's NA. I dont know the horse power but i'm sure its at least 300 at the wheels. A friend dynoed 276 with his 5.3 with just header and a stall conveter and CAI.

Mods on my 4.8
243 heads
TR 220 cam
CAI
pace setter long tube headers

Here's a vid on how it sounds before the rear end upgrade and then one at the track after. Hope this helps.\

Not bad.
I did a few calculations based on your times in the second vid...
A typical 2007 Silverado weighs around 4211 lbs according to a google search.
I assumed you weigh around 180 to 200 with helmet and whatever extra happens to be in the truck.
Your time was 14.74 (typo, time should be 13.74, all math was based on 13.74) and the MPH looked like 98
Running that through this converter it said:
"Your HP computed from your vehicle ET is 301.73 rear wheel HP and 335.26 flywheel HP."
"Your HP computed from your vehicle MPH is 298.48 rear wheel HP and 331.64 flywheel HP."

Not too shabby for a heavy truck with very little done to it.

I always lol'r when I read not to bother with the 4.8 and wait to find a 5.3. I found a 4.8 out of a '97 Express van for my '86 trans am. The factory rated it 285 hp which is plenty for DD duties

I can always mod it later.

Go check out the sister site Performance trucks.net linked at the top of the page..plenty of guys running fast 5.3's over there...
-Comp 212/218 high lift -or- TR220
-Pac 1518 -or- Comp 918's
-PRC 59cc 5.3 heads -or- Patriot 5.3's (both cnc'd)
ported stock t-body,lt headers,2600-3000 stall,intake/exhaust

all the above are proven 5.3 performers imho.....

Sorry about that. I must have typo'd the time in the forum because the math comes out right with 13.74... I'll edit my post.
