Default Carbed 350 into ????

Well, just bought and starting to build a 350. going to build a real light drag car. like an onld RX-7 or 240ZX, and totally gut it. what do ya'll suggest. if we could pull the RX7 down to 1500lbs what do you think it'd run with 400hp?

are you going to make a rear subframe?
or full tube chassis?
what kind of rear suspension?
auto or manual trans?
powertrain alone will weigh 500-550 lbs

355/TH350/10b with 3.42s

suspension would be easiest, atleast IMO, just leaf sprigns with some custom ladder bars, or just a single anti-wrap bar.

Assuming a 1700 lb raceweight/400 hp, possibly 9.4 @ 145

As long as you use the Turbo II rear, it's all good! I have friends in the 9's using them. The mounts break before anything else, and there are good mods known the them.

In theory yes, in reality it would be too scary to go 145 in 9 seconds with a 1500 lb car. Either you would die on the first run, or end up stepping out of the car with legs so wobblie that you cant stand up then realizing that you just did a #1 and a #2. This is assuming that you have enough traction to do it without getting into wheelspin at 100 mph.

Humm, sound like fun!

Oh that 10 bolt will live for a couple of runs until you get some traction. If you went with anything higher than 3.42 then you had better go 12 bolt or 9". I think a 9" with 4.56 gears and a TH400 and a 4000 stall and some slicks would do nicely. Get some wheelie bars for it though.

when i say ten bolt, i don't mean camaro ten bolt. i mean truck ten bolt. 8.75" ring gear. that way i already have a little wider stance and leaf spring perches.
