Cool....sounds like you'll be in good shape then. The header clearance should only get better as things move rearward. What headers are you going to run?
Thanks man. Tracks are closed for the winter now so it won't be any time soon, but hopefully I can make it happen next spring with some fresh tires. Do you have a build thread?

I am considering running the same headers as you, are you happy with them so far, other than the coating?

Yeah, I've been very happy with them but I don't know if they're still available. I think I remember reading that Edelbrock discontinued them as part of their downsizing. But that's been a while so maybe they've started producing them again? It's worth a look I guess.

The mounting flange on the LS series engines is farther back on the engine so if you put the mounts in that spot it will move the bellhousing flange forward from your stock SBC or BBC location. So when they say 1" setback it means they move the bellhousing flange "back" to the stock SBC location.

THANK YOU for that explanation. I had always wondered why what everyone calls 1" set-back mounts seem more like stock location to me. Makes perfect sense....the manufacturers could save themselves and customers a lot of grief if they would simply note that information.

The mounts an crossmembers are out for the early 2nd gen ( 70-74 ) but the headers are to be released in a few weeks, the headers and mounts have been out for a while now for the late 2nd gen camaros and there's a few guys over at Nasty that have them and Love the way they fit and ground clearance, its a complete match setup, Headers, eng mounts an crossmember .

I just want to let the OP know that my buddy and I are doing a LS swap on his 81 and I am using this thread and your car to set us in the right direction. I did my LS swap on my S10 so that will help too but this will be SOO much help. Thank you

Gary,
Hopefully you can get some ink from the powertour. I've heard good things about Brian Toolely Racing's SLD lifters. Might be worth investigating.

Yeah, I'm hoping maybe the TA will be in the background of a few shots when they start snapping pics of Tony's (tsnow678) Camaro.
I have a set of them on the way. Ordered them from Speed Inc last week but they are shipping direct from Tooley. I'm hoping they'll show up early this week.

Gary,
Did you ever get those SLR lifters? I've seen them at Speed Inc before, but also knew BTR has been sold out for a while. I always wondered if Speed Inc stocked them or dropped shipped as you mentioned.
