Default new retrofit oil pan

Does anyone have any info on the new retrofit oilpan from JZmotorworks?Their website says it is cast at the same foundry as the factory pans and will work on first gen camaros and a lot of other stuff. It looks great but they are asking $399 plus shipping for it.There must be somewhere else you can get this pan for less than that.Anyone have any info or sorces for this pan?

Same thing as the RetroLSX pan. mastmotorsports has a simular pan kit avail anytime now. Might be worth calling MAST for price ( post it here) and when they are available.

JZmotorworks is the caster for the one that RetroLS markets.. eBay is about the cheapest way to go.. you can order it directly from from Retrolsx.

Have not heard of a price for the Mastmotorsport one yet.. heard anywhere from this fall to next year on the release date. Price wise.. ??

Mast says their price will be about $350, availible probably in august. This is not a locked in price or date though. My guess is after its been around awhile it will show up cheaper through other channels like the rest of the pans.

The GM Kit is using the Hummer 3 LH8 pan. You should make sure the sump has ground clearance.. as the Mast and Retro pan have the same profile as a F-Body or Vette pan for clearance. About 5" deep vs the LH8 which is about 7 1/2" deep, (CTS-V is 6 3/4")

I have the lh8 pan in my 67 chevell convt. now,It hangs about 3/4 an inch below the crossmember with brp mounts. Many factory cars hang lower than this, but I really would like it to be above the crossmember for my peace of mind.I plan to lower the car also so I would be happier with a pan with more ground clearence.I really like this new retro pan because it is like a factory pan.I hope someone comes out with a deal on one,I will wait a while and see.

I bought the JZ pan, it fits good and is a very nice piece overall. Baffling is similar to an f-body pan.

For the price of the GMPP MuscleCar pan kit, its still a great deal if you have access and skill (or patience) to shorten the pan/pickup.

You are talking about shortning the lh8 pan?I did not think about that, might be a good option since I already have the lh8.Has anyone had experience shortning one?

Prostreet, what is the best route to go then?Should you just clip the front edge of an f body pan, this would be reletivly easy and should fit well after surgery.I looked at my lh8 pan after this came up and the shape of the lower pan will not be very easy to shorten.I do like the factory cast type pans better for rigidity an retaining the stock filter setup.

After reading this thread I feel the need to respond to negative comments regarding this oil pan design. We at JZmotorworks design and produce a quality product as do most people including BRP. I dont feel that negative comments do anyone any good. I have not up to this point recieved any negative feedback on our product. I have just recently had a gentleman do the complete Hot Rod Power Tour with absolutely no issues. As for BRP,S take on our design I am confident that they as comfortable with the products they sell as we are with ours.

Other options for a cast pan is the CTS-V pan, which I am using in my Chevelle. The sump depth is in between the F-body and the LH8 pan. about 1" more than a F-Body and 1" less than the LH8 pan.

I have one of the JZ/Retro pan that i am going to use on my Nova. I will keep any eye out for signs of oil starvation once I do get it running.

I tried to use a lh8 pan in my first build,78 trans am and it was way to low.I ended up using a f body pan that worked great. On my second build,76 amc pacer I tried the lh8 pan again and again it hung down almost to the ground. The f body pan would not clear the pacer crossmember because of the long sump and i almost had to give up the build. Along comes the retrofit pan so I decided to give it a try.I still had to trim a little off the back of the crossmember but it saved my build. I have a aftermarket oil guage and have not seen any oil pressure proplems. The pacer is a driver but I drive the sleeper hard sometimes and so far no complaints with the oil pan.

Same here, the JZ pan is what we used in our 76 Pacer build, with some trimming on the crossmember we got it to work.
