Oh watch it if you guys are heading to reno via 395 between susanville & Reno there is a fire in the Plumas National forest, which can be seen from 395.

I just clayed mine this spring, but I still have a little clean up to do. Got my new wide whitewalls on the front. I am not leaving until Wed 8/4, but it only takes a couple hours for me to get there. Weather forecast is looking better, with low to mid 90s. Hope that holds, and no thunderstorms!

Was great meeeting those that made it to A&W. Sorry we were a little late getting there, but that eems to be standard practice. Poker run was fun, but no winners for us.

Hey guys & gals, sorry I couldn't join you this year but sometimes life just gets in the way. And especially when my 57 LS7 is finally finished. How about some more pictures from Reno?

Any truth to the rumor I have heard that HAN is moving to Long Beach in 2011? That sure would be a kick in the teeth for Reno.

Sorry we missed those folks that were not able to make it. Hot August Nights is expanding to include Long Beach and South Lake Tahoe. For 2011 there will be an event in Long Beach the first week in August, the the traditional Reno event will be moved to the second week of August. The Tahoe event will be on the week-end in between. According to the press release on their web page (http://www.hotaugustnights.net/press...ws_Release.pdf) this is being done to sustain them as a business. I am concerned about the move later in August for Reno as this will impact some people who have school age children. I was thinking some of the SoCal folks that come to Reno may now just go to Long Beach, but was told that less than 5% come from there. I guess time will tell. Reno is very concerned about the future from what I hear. With the long established volunteer force that is vital for the Reno event I truly wonder how they will get that going in Long Beach. I am also told the the areas around the perimeter of Long Beach can be pretty scary. I know in Reno I can go pretty much anywhere without fear for life or property, beyond reason at least.

At any rate this years event was excellent, weather was as perfect as it can be in August, lots of great cars. The signs of the times and economy were apparent with less sponsorship support. The goody bags did not have a lot of goodies, and the Bank of America drawing for cash and hotel stays were no longer there. The place was quickly becoming a ghost town by 1 p.m. on Sunday. In past years there were still doings happening on Sunday. Looking forward to next year already

Pat

The dates for next years Hot August nights in reno is the 9th-14th, they will have long beach the weekend before then tahoe just before reno.

We will see what happens after that.

I know most of the concerns that were from people staying at Circus Circus was the gangs that popped up over there every night.
