Im running a 5 quart oil pan. I want to increase that to about 7, more than likely with a remote oil filter setup. is there a sytem out there that will give me two additional quarts?

 

You can also add an Accusump. any where from 1-4 quarts.

 

You can run a dual filter set up. Perma-cool has one and Hamburger has a better one. I like the Hamburger version because it runs from the first to the second filter, not both at the same time like others. Better filtering IMO.

another question is, I can just run an oil cooler and keep the filter in the current location right? I read it adds about 2 quarts which is exactly what I need and will also cool the oil which is another bonus.

just want to make sure Im not missing anything here.

 

You can plumb the factory oil cooler with the stock pan. There should be a block off plate on it now unless it was equipped before.

 

there is a block off plate, but Im using an autokraft pan.

this is the adapter on it. can I just tap this for 3/8npt or so and run the lines that way?

Im trying to find the stock oil cooler pics and specs but cant. do you have a part number?

 

I don't know any part numbers, but that block does look tap-able. Would most likely tap to 1/2" npt and use -8 or -10 A/N fittings from there to the cooler.

 

thank you, thats what I needed to know. it seems like the most affordable way to go about this.

 

The fittings might get to close together to put them in, but you can mock up and decide if you need to go smaller. Have to see if the bigger will work, I think -8 would be fine.

ok, so I just found out you dont want to use an oil cooler on a drag car. back to square one.

can I use an oil Canister in place of the cooler? will it effectively be the same thing?

oil flows better hot, burns off moisture in the oil etc etc

 

If its a drag strip only car then i dont gess you need one. you only want the oil so hot. and not to cold. around 220-240 is normal. Buddy's twin turbo car Needed an oil cooler

 

just put enough in it so that the low oil light comes on right after you trip the lights. less windage max hp then have accusump for worry free weekend drag action

 

Why do you want to add two quarts of oil. If your not starving it with the five quart setup I would leave it. As long as your not throwing it into the twisties five should be fine I think.
