Default LQ4...............408 or not?!

Ive got an LQ4 im building up for a hot rod and im wondering what your guys opinion is on stroking it to a 408. The motor needs a full rebuild and bore anyway, so the machining costs either way or negligible. From what I can tell, the 408 kit will cost me in the range of $2000 for crank, rods, and pistons. Or I could just keep the stock crank and rods and go with forged pistons with a stock stroke. How much extra HP is gained from the 408 stroker? Would I be better off just going with the stock LQ4 bottom end (with forged pistons) and maybe mill my 317's down for higher compression? Or maybe instead go to FI? I dont mind spending money on this motor as Ill be keeping the car forever, However, if the 408 isnt worth the money, then I will just go with stock LQ4 internals.

On a side note...the motor is from a high mileage truck. Will the mileage affect the strength of the rods? Is it worth replacing them and going forged if I dont go with the 408?

Definetly a thumbs up for the 408, more cubes equals more power. Deffinetly go fuel injection. Carbs are great but this is the 21st century utilize current technology.

Sorry when I said FI I meant Forced Induction, not Fuel Injection. Carb was never on the table as an option for me. Im pumped for the reliability of fuel injection in this old car
