Ls1 Triumph Gt6 website
Hello all, I've been working on my hybrid setup for a while now and just set up a website to document my progress. It's pretty basic right now, but i am constantly updating and adding pics. Drop by and look around, email with suggestions or comments.
Thanks

I love it!
I was considering a Spitfire LS1 swap, but decided to do a 68 vette. I figured it would require less frame mods, etc. I'm just starting on the vette and plan on getting a few more things done once the weather warms up.
BTW, good to see others in the St Louis area on here. I'm in the Ofallon, MO area. Did you get your engine/trans locally?

The weather here is slowing me down too, but I am managing to keep creeping forward. I got my engine/trans off ebay, not locally unfotunately. Yeah, a vette is probably the smallest car you can get that was actually designed for a V8 which would be nice. Hopefully I'll be done in the next couple years and maybe you'll see me driving around. I'd like to move faster but money is always an issue. Oh well. Thanks for the feedback, good luck on your project, post some pics if you get a chance.

I am actually getting away from the independent rear and back halfing the car for a triangulated 4 link or satchell link, haven't chosen between the 2 yet, independant rear is too complicated and expensive for me. plus with the tires i am going to run I don't have too much room for travel either. I take it your sticking with independent in your 'vette?

Yep, I just went through the differential and all the rear bushing so it's in pretty good shape.
So what are you doing with your front suspension? Those bolted together A arms on the Spitfire/GT6 did not look sturdy enogh for the extra weight. I've seen other SBC Spitfire conversions that fully boxed and welded the A arms. But I was considering a modified aftermarket Mustang II or S10 A arms to replace the originals when I was looking into the Spitfire conversion.

Front suspension is getting pretty heavily modified. I removed the bolt together ball joints and welded in a ball joint sleeve to accept more sturdy screw-in ball joints. Same for the lower, I have modified it to accept the same screw in ball joints. I am using Wilwood prospindles which are mustang II geometry. The upper arms don't support much weight and the lowers are beefy enough. Actually the new engine, trans is lighter than the previous engine.I am still sorting out some issues with front width, that's why there isn't much up on the website about it. Once I get that figured out I'll post more details. Unfortunately the brakes/hubs are backordered soI won't know for a while.

my dad and i restored a 1971 spitfire, his first car, about 2 years ago now. he's always wanted a matching GT6 but just doesn't have much time anymore.
i'm definately going to keep tabs on this project it's something i've always wondered if people were doing. great work!

Got your email about the balljoints as well, i have been out of town for 2 weeks with the wife,
The front end is set up correctly(according to the taper on the spindles), the Prospindles are based on Mustang II supension and looking at other setups it looks like all similar setups are the same with the upside-down balljoints on the lower. I assume(and hope) the tensile strength of the balljoint is more than enough to hold the weight of my little car.
