Default Volvo Hits the Dyno

Although you can barely see it, that's a Volvo Duett there with a magnacharged 5.3 that's essentially stock except for a smallish cam.

First run boost started at 9 and dropped to 5. There it made 380hp and 447 ft/lbs.

Changed belt during dinner. Then Boost started at 9 and dropped to 7 where it made 425hp and 488 ft/lbs.

That would indicate if I get the belt slippage worked out, it should make around ~470 hp and over 500 ft/lbs. (woulda-coulda-shoulda). Honestly, I don't care, it's more than enough power for a street car.

First off - BIG THANKS to Randy @ YatesEFI.com
Second - Jim @ Speed Inc. can't say enough, he made the car scream.
Third but not least - Russ, thanks for the shots and being a good guy.

I dig that! Very nice work. Did Randy build it for you? The work is very nice from the angles I see. I would love to see more pictures.

Is everything running off the same belt? You may try one of those non-spring-loaded belt tensioners if that's the case. I know you aren't trying to get the last bit of power but I'm more concerned with throwing the belt miles from nowhere.

Randy did the wiring harness and helped with some key decisions, he knows his stuff.

The thing is with those fixed tensioners is they don't move once the belt starts to stretch under load. If you look at the spring loaded tensioner, it relaxes a bit when you hit the throttle. If the belt is stretching, which I would imagine it is since it's rubber and fabric, the fixed tensioner would be counter productive. Just my opinion though.

This is one of those awesome, well-engineered cars with more neat/ trick/ custom-made items popping up everywhere you look. Thanks for letting me take it for a spin, the power is awesome and the sound is unreal. You sir, are my hero!

Yes he does, more people should give him credit - I know I wouldn't be where I am with these engines without talking to him.

I dig that, but you may be able to use that to your advantage since that is exactly what is "wrong" with the spring loaded type. It's just an idea and I've never had one so I can't say it will work or not. I have a squealing AC compressor that a bit more tension would resolve (I can ever so lightly add tension with a 15mm wrench and the squeal goes away). I've been meaning to buy one for that car as an experiment but I haven't done it yet - too many other projects.

Quad Sh*tties... LOL... I lived there for 4 years... glad I moved away... haha.

I love the engine and blower combo!

You should check out the Power Tour - that thing would fit in with a few magnacharged LS swaps on it, plus the tour seams to go thru IL every year!
