I am going to have to say the natural aluminum is fy favorite. I like the stealthy look of the black but the pop of the bright aluminum just looks awesome.

One last addition you need to make to this engine dress up. You need to get rid of the chrome air cleaner and use a spun aluminum one like the Nascar boys use. Like the one in this picture.

A local speed shop has them for like $15-20 for the top only.

Not yet. I am "massaging" the outer wheel house a bit. 64-67 GM A-bodies have very little room for tires in the back. But, it will be do-able. 275/60R15s are the absolute max on these without mini-tubs.

I was considering doing the same thing to my car. Are you grinding the lip back or are you going to roll it back? I fear either method on my car as the quarters and outer wheel housings were replaced 3 years ago and I am not sure where the welds are.

It is really cool to see one of these cars getting this kind of treatment. The 1965-1967 Skylark really is a unique and cool car. I just wish I still had my Suncoupe!

The lip is not the problem on my car. The outer wheel house is actually the problem. There is about 1 1/2" separation between the outer wheel house and the quarter panel. So, as the wheel goes up into the wheel house near the bottom of the suspension travel, it will rub on the outer wheel house. So, I took out my "large" hammer and made a little room. It worked nicely. Tomorrow I will put my rear springs and shocks back in and mount them up for a road test.

Thanx. I fell in love with this body style when I was a youngster. This is my 2nd. My first was a 64 Buick Special.

Drag radials look nice and appear to tuck in well. I used the 275/50 Nittos and was astonished when I couldn't spin them after my tuning session. I think I need a converter. 'Looking forward to your results!

I just took her for a ride on the street. Even with 22 pounds in the Mickeys the traction is substantially better on our asphalt roads. Before 1st gear had no traction no matter what and I had to roll into the throttle at the bottom of 2nd to stay hooked. Now, I can roll into the throttle at 15 to 20 MPH in 1st and stay hooked without any loss of traction when I hit 2nd. If I am too aggressive with the throttle opening in 1st, she still yields instant tire smoke but it is a huge improvement. I am anxious to see if a prepped track will hold her.

That would be great for sure. The build has already exceeded my build goals, so that would be gravy. I am going to the short track on Wednesday. So, for an 11 second equivalent, I guess I am looking for anything 7.60s or faster. We shall see if we can manage a clean launch.

The car ran great at the track. Once the track conditions came around, she was dead hooking and very consistent. Here are the last 3 time slips.

Hell Yeah!!! Sounds great!!! Awesome runs!!! Whats up with the .766 60' time on the 9:14 run? I see your reaction times picked up considerably as the night progressed.
