Default Truck Alt - conversion or custom bracket?

Hello All...

I know it may be easier just to find a whole F-body accessory setup. But I have the truck setup already and it on the motor and in the Mustang.

But has anybody purchased or used a mod to the factory Truck Alt braket so it doesnt sit up so high? Or does anybody sell custom bracket?

thanks

Kwik performance sells a bracket set-up that allows you to use all of the stuff you have now but places it more like the c5/c6 set-up.

If you feel crafty, check out my photobucket. I modified the truck stuff to fit in a 93 Mustang.

Only 2 bolt are holding that in place? Or you have a bolt going into the head also?

Nice with the 6.99 Home Depot Trick.

Why would Zipster's setup take away the power steering. I think the only thing I would be worried about would be belt slip on the wp. Also how did you go about getting the truck fully on the f-body wp.

I agree, and if you want more belt wrap, you can use the original truck "S" wrap, keep an idler pulley above the PS and route the belt over the WP pulley.

The alternator is only held on be two bolts for now, I am going to add a bracket to triangulate the forces and attach it to the head.

With no spark plugs in the engine I can almost turn the engine over by rotating the water pump. I don't think it will slip.

I kept the stock truck power steering pump, and the water pump is the truck one, I just modified the outlet.

How did you do your wp outlet. I see that you obviously moved the outlet but how and how did you block the other side.

I removed the original tube, put in a 1 5/16 freeze plug. Then used a 1/1/4 hole saw and drilled the new outlet, used a 1 inch pipe and ground slots in the threads(like a tap) on one end then ran it in a few times, then cut off the tap end and installed the pipe.

When its time to replace the pump, I will look into a Trailblazer or Camaro pump.

Yes, there is one bolt with a spacer where the tensioner was, there is a turnbuckle from Home Depot that I bent the eyelets so they would lay flat against the water pump end the alternator.

Zipster

You have not driven your car with this setup though? It may slip under a load.
