Its a GEN III to GEN III swap so the important parts are 1:1 swap

No it wont fit right in there, just look at it

Take all the external parts off your LS1 and put it on the LQ. You need to drill/tap one bolt hole for the alt to make up the difference in iron to alum blocks

Finally, are you sure its a LQ9? Tons of people are popping up with them in recent years and most are disappointed when they tear them down and find its a LQ4 that a seller put a label on for a higher price. Also, keep in mind the ONLY different from a LQ4 to LQ9 is the pistons, so if you're going to replace them EVER, skip the obscene markup

ok, so i would assume that the blocks have the same casting number? i've read that the heads are a diff. casting number, could i check those and if they're lq9 heads maybe im good? its from car-part.com. this one place off that site thats close to me says they have 3:

03 GMC Yukon XL1500 w/ 55k-$1200
06 GMC Sierra 2500 w/ 63k-$1050
04 Chevy Silverado 2500 w/ 78k-$1000

he says they're all the same. sound right to anyone?

Best way to know for sure is to check the RPOs or emissions sticker under the hood. A VIN will tell you too

LQ blocks are the same, heads are all 317's. Like I said, LQ4s were dish pistons, LQ9's flat tops

Personally Id find a more common LQ4. The obscene markup for pistons is ridiculous to me

LQ4 gets a "U" for the 8th on the VIN number and LQ9 is a "N". if you get the vin thats the best way to tell.

I would save the extra cash and get a lq4, much cheaper IMHO.
