You can get by without the efi tank, but you have to try to keep the fuel above 1/4 tank. The reason for that is with a standard tank the fuel will slosh away from the pickup when you turn sharp and the fuel level is lower than 1/4 tank.

Gn tanks, [the CORRECT 1's], have a bucket built into them for fuel retention around the pump.
There will be a feed, return, and vent connection on the sender/hanger.

i made a double pumper kit out of my stock na regal tank and for sure it's a tight fit even without the bucket. yes regular fuel pressure hose works fine on THE OUTSIDE OF THE TANK. plenty of horror stories of fuel line turning to black jelly on the inside of the tank. just be sure.

why not use a short piece from the tank to the rail like gm origionally did?

Fwiw, the MC tank is cheaper but it does have the baffles to keep the fuel from sloshing around. Also, Russell makes aluminum fuel line that's good for up to 250psi.

Get pushlok rubber hose! The aluminum hard line is a nightmare to route... ask me how i know! The pushlok hose and an ends are the way to go for ease of use and relibality they DO Not come apart without cutting the hose.
