Default LS1 vs LS2 vs LQ9 for 03 Silverado

I wanted to swap my 4.8 for one of these

I know the most common, or the one I hear most about, is the LS1 swap for a single cab silverado like mine.

But iv heard that the LS2 isnt a big price difference from the LS1

ALSO there is the LQ9 to consider since it is an iron block but doesnt have as high of compression which might be bad for what I want

I plan to keep it all motor and maybe some N2O in the future, I do already have my 4L60E so theres no problem there, so what do you guys think would be best considering price/what I want?

And if someone could include where to fine these for a little cheaper than most or find them at all would be awesome, thanks

Buy a LQ9 (CR is 10:1) pretty good.

Remove 4.8L bolt in LQ9 long block retune PCM and enjoy the power!

Car-part.com search caddys and SS's

Yea I know most of it is "plug and play" per say but as far as how well it takes with mods compare to an LS? That's really what I'm wondering. What do you think the typical cam only LQ9 would make?

There's a lot of good stuff out there on building LQ9's. Almost all of the stuff is interchangable with the LSx and LQx series motors. People like to say that the iron block will put up to more abuse than an LSx aluminum block. Also, the LQ9's etc are WAY cheaper than the LSx motors.

LQ9, cam, cai, headers, and a good tune combined with the n2o will make a nice setup.

You can definatly make good power with the lq9 and it's the cheapest of the 3. Check out the Gen 3 internal/external sections for more info

I picked my lq9 up on ebay complete with pedal shipped to the door for $1570. It has 170K on it, but I'm putting stripping it down and going to do new rings and bearings. As well as ls3 intake, 90mm ls2 tb, cts-v accessories, etc for my 240sx swap.
