66 chevy II nova ls1/76mm
whats up guys, I picked up this grandma 66 chevy II four door from my uncle about a month ago, got it all setup with a hx35 derived turbo on the old original 283 to raise some hell before I swapped in a ls1, BUT after racing Bradenton LSX challenge, i'm ready to rip into it to swap it before the atlanta race next month and run it in true street!
Its March 21, the race is april 14
We are talking full tilt boogie on swapping here, and I still need a few parts. Right now I need one piston, injectors, and a throttle body and a GTO pan for the ls1 before I can drop it in. I'm going to make it happen
Rundown of parts to install:
-3in front mount intercooler and piping
-redo my hotside to hook up to truck manifolds(or whatever I can dig out of the attic!) and run downpipe
-th400 and stall + 04 ls1
-Find out if my turbo is going to do worth a crap on the larger cube ls1
-install the c5 z06 front brakes and strange master cylinder
-gauges (wideband, oil press, water temp, volt, tach)
-battery relocation kit+box
-summit 15 gal fuel cell, aeromotive inline pump and regulator
-build the traction bars for the rear
-throw in the mini spool
I'm gona be pushing the envelope to get it done. car should weigh 27-2800 fully dressed. I'm just shooting for 400-450HP so no wildness yet
car:
barn/grandma fresh, for real! 66,000 miles
new wheels and stance (18s and 20s)
nasty underhood and wasted time on hotside(i'll be painting engine bay)
fuel cell, still needs new trunk lower floor!

Been working on replacing trunk floor, mounting cell, plumbing, and battery relocation. Working rear/forward.
NEED GTO OIL PAN .....HELP!!
working on the engine this weekend, replacing one piston and adding 317s to drop compression. selling my baby turbo for a 76mm. Need a TB for the fast 92. Got injectors off here...lots of work!
Also redoing the rear susp w/ a 2 link

I'm still plugging away, been grabbing all the nit picky stuff to tie up loose ends so its throw together all at once! I've been more afraid of needing something and not being able to get it in time.
I'm trying to take pics and video as I go so it should be neat.
Got lots of parts ordered or stacked up all over the car and garage right now. I even got a fresh bottle of argon so i dont run out in the middle of fabbing intercooler pipes. All I need is my cronies to come over and help.

i've come to realize that a thrashfest on this thing is going to have me losing my mind. I'm still plugging away but it looks like she wont make it to atlanta and have kinks worked out to race. BUT if it isnt together by then I wont be dissapointed, its gona get plenty of beatdowns all year and daily driver duty

so I spent all day on the non cool stuff, engine bay and trunk floor. I gave up on getting the whole engine bay painted slick, too much old age in all the cracks and crevices to clean out good enough, and I have about this much ( ) patience anyways. Trunk floor is done minus some seam sealer, and the whole engine bay is friggin rhino lined//err duplicolor roll on bedliner, which is my new favorite thing...and i'm doing the whole underside of the car in it. $52 at TSC for a gallon is enough to do the whole dang car
100,000 tack welds
coated and sump hole cut out
sump
looks better in person
intercooler

yall are prob waiting for an update. The fuel cell is mounted except for some trim around the sump, battery box mounted and wired, battery disconnect mounted complete with piston ****. I know its all overkill for a street car, but its there for when it gets suspension and cage and it will be completely legal to run with no questions asked

I started coating the trunk floor. Nothing like this crap dripping all over you the whole time lol...I'll yank the rearend, paint it and mini spool, coat the rest of the floor, and keep wondering how i'm gona set up the rear suspension off mono leaf till I get time to build a 2 link.

go back and look at pics of the car..worn out factory paint. A little buffing on the white and it shines! Its still worn out but has loads of patina. I'm going to shoot the roof black or grab a vinyl top for it, and leave the rest for a while
