That's a stock C6 LS3 air intake.. $50 with new Delco filter from corvetteforum.com classifieds.. ;-) The LS3 intake has a resonator that has to be cut off and capped (PVC cap), the LS7 intake has no resonator..

Probably not useful for anything but a vette.

From what I can find, the '07 Monte pedal # and the old Vette pedal # are both discontinued and both replaced with the new number 25835421

About $68 from partszoneonline

Started assembling the short block last week, only to find out Mahle screwed us. They apparently changed the -12cc piston from a 4032 forging, to a low-silicon 2618 forging and never changed the part# (Look in their catalog for L92314070I12, sigh). So now we have to waste more time trying to return them and going to a flat-top or some other 4032 slug. (The 0.0055" piston-wall clearance on this blower piston wouldn't suit very well on a NA street/strip motor. Nice looking piston though..)

I'm doing same swap in my c4, L92 09 engine with Lt1 t56 convert to ls1 and LSA supercharger.

I have questions for you:
how you going to connect E38 ecm with old lt1 ecm in order to works all dash?

Once the L92 is installed and running on the new E38 ecm and harness, I'll splice in the needed signals/sensors to the the LT1 ecm. It's basically the last part of the swap.

Mahle -12cc L92 pistons arrive at the shop today. Crank is going out for balancing on Monday and shortblock assembly later next week.
I'm putting my front accessories on today. Can you tell me the size for the bolts that hold the P/S Res bracket in place please?

http://www.gmperformanceparts.com/_r...D_19202977.pdf

Is the guide I worked from.. I had to use my own bolts to hold the bracket to the head for the VVT +1.5" offset, but all the accessory mounting bolts work as is..

The PS Res bracket uses the bracket bolts into the head. (Figure 6 in the above PDF)

Finally got the correct pistons. Everything is weighed and the crank sent out for balancing. These are 4032 aluminum and will give us a nice 0.003 piston-wall clearance. (See previous blower piston above)

L92/VVT in C4 vette LS/T56 swap-102_0868.jpg

L92/VVT in C4 vette LS/T56 swap-102_0870.jpg

For any VVT'ers interested, these Mahle pistons have 0.220" deep intake valve reliefs (Stockers have no intake reliefs) and 0.153" deep exhaust valve reliefs (STockers have 0.120" exhaust reliefs)

My cam choice will increase the lift by 0.113 on the intake and 0.120 on the exhaust while adding over 30deg of duration on both, so ideally my P2V should grow over stock on the intake and lose 0.90 or so on the exh. The phaser limiter should keep anything from touching.

Great Build I do have one question. Do you have a pic of the front of the motor with all the accessories on? just alternator PS and waterpump side if you dont have the other side done. Im curious how the belt will be routed with the waterpump you chose

Thanks

Good info Mike. I have been eyeing the Wisecos. Based on the info in this article they look pretty nice, but the Mahls are certainly more budget friendly.

In post #32 above I gave the GM PDF that I used for my FEAD (Figure1). Everything is spaced out 1.5" from the block to clear the VVT, but the L99 Camaro water pump spins in the same direction.

I've got serious scope creep so budgeting when I can is a priority.. ;-) Mahle makes L92 (VVT) specific pistons, so it was #1 on my list..

I do have that P-V thread book marked, but I have questions how it didn't fly apart with no bolts.. I've been casually looking for a used phaser to scacrefice to the cause..

I assume those have deeper valve reliefs than their normal pistons? -12cc seems like it's giving up a lot of compression. Wonder how they compare with the reliefs on the L99s for which these cams were developed. It may be that the deeper reliefs aren't needed once you add the phaser limiter.

For checking p-v clearance, it seems like you could get the spacers in there without pulling that final bolt - but I haven't tried. He mentioned he couldn't get it to rotate.

Purhaps, or at least deeper exh reliefs.

I'm not using the -12cc dished pistons as they turned out to be forced-induction spec. They would have given me a 9.3:1 compression, but the flat-tops I have now will keep me at a stock 10.4:1.

The L99 pistons "look" exactly like the L92 pistons and should have same or similar specs.

https://ls1tech.com/forums/12771321-post4.html

I imagine the TSP VVT-2,3, MAST, Comp, etc.. cams are designed to work with the stock pistons with a limiter, but I tend to be more conservative and the T56 manual trans has other concerns for P-V so the extra reliefs give me peace of mind.. (They'll also allow me to experiment with more aggressive VVT tuning, which is why I got into this in the first place... LOL)
