97 LT1 M6 to 99+ LS1 A4
I've read many useful posts on this particular swap. Have a few questions to those that have done this. Has anyone successfully kept the LT1 k-member with motor mount adapter plates? I know the_merv tried and it moved everything back 3/4". Everyone says just get a ls1 k, but I just can't find a reasonably priced one right now. I've already acquired the Ls1 steering rack and shaft.
I will be going the corvette filter/regulator route. Do the stock Lt1 lines plug directly into this filter? What do I do with the vent line?
Can anyone show me a pic of their modified a4 crossmember mount? Maybe a little more info on how you made it work?
Any help would be appreciated. I'm still in the researching and parts gathering stage and have yet to buy the motor/tranny yet, but it will most likely be 99+.

I moved everything back cause that was the only adapter plates out at the time..now they have ones that move the engine all over the place. There is a set that is specifically for this swap, I've seen them.
Here is a pic with the standard plates on the block..
If you find the ones for this swap they will work a hell of alot better than these did for me.

I used a BMR LS1 K member with my LT1 4L60E and the transmission was moved 1/2" to the front. I kept the LT1 tranny crossmember.
So, either way you decide to do it its a matter of elongating the slot in the transmission crossmember. No big deal at all.

The vent line remained in the same location and was connected to a cannister purge solenoid located on the Intke manifold.

Thanks for the replies. Went through flames thread alot good info in there.
Another question, I found a good deal on a 98 Ls1 pullout. How much different would the wiring be? I see that most have used 99+ harnesses and I understand that there is little difference in the 99-02 harnesses. Has anyone taken on the 98 harness?

The 98 harness is actually easier to use but the 98 pcm is less desirable for tuning so its up to you. This is a good source for wiring info http://www.lt1swap.com/98-02_ls1.htm

I use a very small Craftsman screwdriver to release the terminals from the connectors.
For the PCM you dont need any special tools.

update: Dropped the motor in Friday. The LT1 transmission crossmember however needs to be modified. There's no way slotting it will work for me, so I will be welding a plate or tab of some sort on the front of the trans crossmember and then slotting that. I will post pics as soon as I get it done. I also tried using the crossmember that came with the '01 transmission I bought , but the bolt locations are completely different on the Lt1 car for sure!
I Still have not decided which air intake setup Im going to use yet. Will I need any kind of special elbow if I use a LT1 style aftermarket cai? Also what did you guys use to plug the unused 5/8 nipple on the LT1 radiator?

My LT1 CAI (including LT1 elbow) was used in my conversion without any modifications:
For the unused nipple on the radiator I used a small section of 5/8 hose and plugged it with a machined aluminum cap on the other end.

Ok a quick wiring question. On my '01 engine wiring harness I had moved 220c pink ignition wire to 220e. The wire I removed from from 220e was a black/white stripe. What do I do with this wire? From the schematics that I've read its a ground wire circuit 451, and it seems to end up at
the DLC. Should I ground this anywhere, or just disregard it?

ok I tried to start engine today and no start. The engine turns over but no fire. Ithink Im not getting fuel. I noticed that when I turn the key forward the fuel pump does not prime. When I repinned my harness I moved the green/white fuel pump relay C101 D to C220 J,and C230 Grey wire fuel pump ground to C210 B. What do I do with C210 D which is a fuel pump prime connector? I cannot find where to connect it to the LS1 harness. Also my PCM was reprogrammed and VATS was removed.
