Default Which gauges

I am trying to figure out which gauges to use with my lq9 swap. I have looked at autometer, Stewart Warner, and glow shift. Just don't know the difference in quality.

I don't know about the brands' respective qualities. Sender size and thread type will be important. The temp sender on the head of these are small and of course, the threads for it and the oil pressure are metric. Someone on here had posted about fittings/adaptors for oil press.

it depends on a few things. I'm assuming you're talking about the LQ9/4L80e combo in a '70 Camaro? If so, you want an electronic speedo so you don't have to run one of those auto-x cable deals. I really like speedhut gauges (esp. the GPS speedo, as it requires no add'l hookup to the output speed sensor on the trans). I honestly don't think there will be much difference in quality, though the SH's do have some innovative features.

For a classic look, I really like AM's American Muscle series (I'm personally tired of their other designs, since every rodder -- including myself -- seems to have a set), though the SW Power Series is pretty sweet, too. And Aurora makes some really good-looking gauges. You might want to bounce over to nastyz28 or team camaro to check out some pics of what others have done w/ their 2nd gens.

Nordskog. They have programmable out puts to operate relays or lights. They have last data recall. Alittle pricey but nice.

I'd like to see more swaps using the OEM gauges from the donor vehicle.

For example, here's a '69 Camaro with a '97 dash in it (link)

Can't see those pics at work, but I do agree that using factory gauges (from any car) could lend a cleaner look.

I've used Auto Meter and currently am using VDO gauges... I'll so those are about the same quality. Never had a problem w/ either.

I've been looking into http://www.newvintageusa.com/ for gauges. I like their 3 in 1 gauges... if I can fit them in my dash I may get them just to clean things up in there.

I used Dakota Digital's VHX series. They are cool and came with all the senders and hardware you need to install them. And have tons of features.

I am using classic instruments.
Expensive, but very nice looking for a streetrod.

Not in a Nova

I had thought about doing either the the dakota digital gauges, or the speedhut gauges in the Nogo, but just don't care for the looks/layout of the dakota even though it would be easier

Edit:
Oh, those Dakota Digital's VHX series are new to me. Looks like they did a great job. Hope they come out with one for the Nogo soon, and looking as sweet as the others

I've always liked autometer guages.

As for the metric adapters to convert oil pressure and water temp into 1/8 npt thread, sunpro makes a kit of 5 adapters for about $10. P.n. CP7573
