Nice progress! I'm lazy, my factory paint looked good, so I just stripped the rust and let it ride, lol.

spent a couple hours working on the engine tonight, but i managed to get all the pistons cleaned up nice (cleaning ring grooves SUCKS) and 3 pistons mounted in the block. tomorrow i should have the rotating assembly done, then back to work on the car. or vice versa cuz my thumb is cut to hell from the old rings im using to clean the grooves.

anyone have the torque specs? i believe its 15 ft. lbs plus 65* on rods then 18 ft. lbs plus 90* on the mains right?

According to them it's 15ft-lbs + 60* for early bolts 15ft-lbs + 75* for later ones.

My shop book says all mains to 22ft-lbs then loosen, push crank forward, torque center (on each cap) main bolts to 15ft-lbs + 80*, then torque outer (on each cap) bolts to 15ft-lbs, then loosen and re-torque to 15ft-lbs + 53*, then torque all cross bolts in pairs to 18ft-lbs.

I know it sounds like alot to me too...

I know it says 20..lol..I do the 22..

My question is what is the difference with the old bolts vs the new ones..?

i have head studs... and the difference is the length. the old ones were more apt to stretch due to being longer.
