It still aggravates the heck outta me that LS1 cams cost $100 more than a billet solid roller cam for a SBC/BBC, or just about any other engine. I can even get a custom roller for a 348/409 cheaper....and those aren't "popular" items.

i need some sponsors! haha i hope to have most of the engine bay blasted tonight if not all of it...

not much to post about, but i am about 2/3 done with the sand blasting all thats left is the drivers side and down around the heater core

the firewall must have had a thin/crappy coat of paint because it went quick, all the way down into the trans tunnel.

Yeah but at least his are on course and close together. If I did build threads there would be 1. 97 SS getting heads/cam/home built 12 bolt, 2. 95 Z28 getting pretty much the same, 3. 94 Z28 getting scavenged and scrapped, 4. 1961 Bel Air - two part one here - A. 433 solid roller bbc coming out and getting freshened while B. LS2 with L92 heads and a carb goes in to pull temporary duty before finding a home somewhere else. 5. 1961 Parkwood (Bel Air station wagon) getting built up for daily driver/kid hauler use.

And each one of those would get updated about once every 3 months. Seems like I've been in the part collecting stage of all of them forever.

i keep it updated so i keep track of what im doing, i only get ~1-2 hours a day to work on it. the pick up tube is just mocked up since the o ring broke, where can i get another one at? im taking all 3 pairs of aluminum heads to the scrap yard so i can make a little cash to fund my project... plus i have a couple hundred more pounds of aluminum and at least a ton of scrap iron. along with 300 pounds of copper, 2 cats, 2 junk cars, and a 454/th400

Well....#1 & #2 I already have everything to do, plus they are going to be kinda getting built up a little along while being used.

#3 is being sacrificed for #1 & #2

#4 is the only car that really matters to me in the world. It's been on the back burner for too long while I spent $$$ on #1 above, but that has also been my DD for over a year.

#5 is going to be our family car instead of sinking over ten grand in something newer with seating for 9. Me and my 4 kids PLUS my fiance and her 3 kids.

Oh....so as not to be a total :

OP....have you seen the pricing on bare LSA heads lately?? You can get those along with the stock LSA intake valves pretty cheap compared to LS3/L92 stuff. I hear they flow slightly less, but still great. You could put together a set reasonably by picking up a set of used L92 exh valves on here along with the HP springs of your choice. Not sure if this helps, but it's an idea.

Don't scrap a 454/th400 man...you'll regret it later. (I'll regret it sooner.) LOL If you do....do me a favor and don't post up saying you did. I'll lose sleep and maybe a year off my life. I'm already dealing with having one (454) stolen and sold for scrap from me about a month ago along with about $1500 worth of other stuff. All I recovered was one Chrome 98 SS/zr1 wheel. Noone got caught either.

Also...with your aluminum heads and other parts....make sure you strip them down to bare aluminum or they probably won't pay you anything more than scrap iron price. Not that I'd scrap those heads, but at least if you do, maybe you will get the right pay for them. Wouldn't they bring more if you sold them on here for like $50 a pair or something cheap for a quick sale?

I'm surprised noone wants the LT1 heads. Have you asked any local owners who may want them to experiment at home porting on? I'd give more than scrap if they were local. I know LE was looking for cores recently of the two popular castings. I think he was paying up to $100 for a pair iirc.

LSA heads are rectangle port LS3/L92 type heads found on the LSA supercharged 6.2L 56x hp used in CTS & 2012 Camaro's very similar to LS9 heads. Supposed to be a denser and smoother casting than LS3/L92 heads, but they have a wing in the intake port which cuts flow slightly, but they still flow over 300 cfm stock. Alot of people are removing or mostly removing the "wing" or "vane" casting from the port. I don't think it would take any real porting experience to get rid of it....or maybe it would work best left alone on a NA build? Flow numbers aren't everything.
