Is it a LM7?

There are 2 different versions of 243's out there..the LS2/LS6 ones, and the truck ones. The trucks have smaller valves.

I guess it must be....I'll have to research the Repair Order for the VIN and then look up the RPO codes tomorrow. They are definately the original heads/entire engine for the truck it came out of. It wasn't anything special and the engine was replaced under warranty for the low oil pressure issue.

I'll try to research the truck version of #243 heads in the meantime if I can find anything. Seems like most of the time I do a search it brings up way too many threads that have very little to do with what I need to know.

OP....did you get only 1 LS3 head because that's all you could find or are you just getting them one at a time for monetary purposes?

That's amazing.....you just saved enough right there to more than pay for the other head you need.

Sorry to hear about all of that. I know your wife is sad, but WOW what a blessing to have had her great great grandma alive so long. I'm almost 38 and all 4 of my grandparents have been gone for several years. I can barely remember my great grandmothers....great, greats were gone way before my time.

If it's a late model removable bell, you should be able to just swap bells with a 98-02 4l60e bell.

If it's the removable bell housing you are good..GM started that in 1998.

If the transmission is off of a Vortec 350 SBC, it would be the same as an LT1 4l60e, just with a removable bell. You'd either need to adapt that bell the same way you adapt an older trans to an LSX, or just swap to a 98-02 4l60e f-body bell or another LSX based vehicle's bell with a 4l60e.

Wouldn't you need to swap convertors too? Is the input shaft the same length regardless of bellhousing on the 98+ 4L60e's?

Negative, not a 1998 one..

That is the first year that the LS Style is run on ANY GM Engine, except for the 4L80E ofcourse.

I've only seen a few roll through the shop...just a few..

It will work with a LS Convertor..that's all you need to make it happen.
