Default Major problem with build!!!! A little help please!!!

here goes...
I recently attempted the "first start" on my L92 engine installed in my V6 camaro. All i got was backfiring. No start. Later i learned that i needed to replace the cam phasor, with the 4X cam gear.(lingenfelter converter box)

after a 3 day war with, harmonic balancer, i finally got it off. then i removed the timing cover and checked the dots out of curiosity to see if they lined up because of the backfiring. they did. Next, i grabbed the ratchet and began to remove the cam phasor bolt. immediatley i noticed the bolt wasn't tight at all. came off with very little effort. from what i can tell, the the gear was turning over but the cam itself wasn't. the dowel on the cam had slipped out and was scarring the back side of the gear. what do i do?

Looks like you need a new cam and new phaser plus the bolt.

With the cam gear spinning, but cam not spinning, or maybe spinning intermittently, is there a chance that I could have some bent valves or other damage while trying to start the engine?

No, I was deleting the VVT when I found the the problem. I talked to the guy that I purchased the motor from and he doesn't think that the motor could've been damage from just turning it over. I guess if it had actually ran, that would be a differernt story.

Take all the rockers free and do a compression test. Bent valves will show up immediately

If all is well, replace the cam parts and button it up

Take the rocker arms off and spin the cam to where it needs to be. Is the cam ok? You want to do a cylinder leakage test though, not a compression test. They require different tools.

i didn't pull the cam so i don't know if i had any internal damage. the outside of the cam and dowel seems to be fine. i was able to turn the crank a little, turn the cam a little......little by little until i lined everything up. a local mechanic told me he's done that a few times with no issues. it worked. everything turned without binding. i now notice an air suction or blowing sound as i turn the motor over by hand with the gear and chain in place. i hope thats normal.
