Mighty impressive. Tight fitment for sure but looks great. Nice score on the E34 too!

Well I figured out what was wrong with the pcm. When the 10 amp fuse for the battery voltage to pcm blew, I didn't have any extras so I pulled what I thought was the AC fuse, but it was actually the fuse for the switched 12v to the pcm. After I replaced that fuse, I was able to flash the pcm.

I finished up the fuel system. I got the cover on and I am pleased with the results. I may move the regulator under the cover at some point.

I also got most of the exhaust system in from Columbia River. All I need now is some 3.5" 90° bends, a couple of mufflers and a hi-flow cat. I loaded everything up along with my Dad's bench grinder to take down the the shop. I am going to start working on the exhaust tonight.

Gotta love an E34 touring parts/equipment hauler.

Absolutely. It may be ls powered one day...

BTW Swagon, your car is amazing. I love the color combo. My sister lives in Richmond. I might hit you up next time I'm up there.

Thanks and any time! My dad would probably want to meet you too since he went to GT

There is only one E34 LS powered car I know of and it's a touring. He has a build thread here too. I think his username is Vax16 or something along those lines.

I've seen several of those wagons with an LS in them. I think one of them now lives in Fayetteville, GA.

I did a little research today, and the wagon may be my next project. We'll see. The swap looks pretty easy. Probably easier than this swap.

Well I got a little work done tonight. I got the v-band flanges tacted to first part of the exhaust.

I got sick of not being being able to tac anything in my car, so I spent the rest of the night building a cart for the welder. It came out OK. I'll probably redo the post on the side. It is there to strap the gas bottle to.

Hopefully I'll get a bunch of parts in the mail tomorrow. I hope to have some more updates after the weekend

Got some more work done tonight. I got the v-bands tacked to the headers. I'll finish welding them today.

I'll be final welding today. I'm going to have them ceramic coated next week.

I tried to prime the motor last night, but it's not making any oil pressure. I either left something out of the motor or the pick up I made for it is bad. Going to try and pull the motor tonight. We'll see.

I finished the headers tonight. Welded the tubes to the inside of the flange and then ported everything. My welds are getting better, but still have a long way to go. I think that I wasn't giving the weld enough time to cool, or I was having gas coverage issues. When I finished a weld it would be nice and gold colored, like the welds in the last pic. However, when I would weld the next section, the previous section would turn purple/blue. I played with the pre-flow time without much luck. Any experienced welders have any advice? I ordered the v-bands with tubes welded to them, so those aren't my welds.

Overall, I'm pretty pleased with how the headers turned out. There are definitely things I would have done differently, but given that this was my set of headers, I can't complain much.

Hey man, a question on the fuel filter/regulator set up, and pardon my ignorance on this. It looks like to me that on the side with the two fittings, fuel runs in from the tank and out to the motor, and on the backside, the fuel returns to the tank. I also see another line right behind it that appears to me to be fuel line. Is that correct? If so, do the two "return" lines go back to the tank separately, or do they join up somewhere prior to entering the tank.

I'm still getting my bearings on this project, so any help is appreciated.

Oh, and "Nashvegas?"

For the filter/regular, the fuel rail feed its the fitting on the side by itself. The other two fittings are the Fed from from the pump and the return line. The return is the smaller fitting and the feed from the pump is the one in the center of the filter/regular.

Well I pulled the motor and checked over everything. The galley plug and barbell were there. I have oil at both of those. There was oil at the bottom of all the push rods but none in the heads. I checked the preload on the push rods and they are preloaded, so I think my lengths are good. Checked the oil pick up oil ring and it looked fine. Not sure why it's not making any pressure when I try and prime it. I think I'll just going to try and fire it and see what happens. I'll shut it down if it doesn't make oil pressure in the first 5 seconds or so.

I realized that I never posted pics of my oil pick and pan baffling. Sorry for the blurry pics. Basically I moved the pick up to the back of the pan. I welded up the center of the stock baffle and cut slots on the outside. This should trap oil under braking and funnel oil in under accel. It doesn't do much for lateral loads, but if I ever make it into a track car (probably will never happen) I would redo the pan and add an accusump.

I put everything back in the car and went to fire it, and the fuel pump is bad. It worked when I pulled the old motor. I have ground and power at the pump but nothing happens. So now I have to order a new pump. Oh well.

I'm busy for the next couple of weeks, so we'll see when I get that fixed.

Thanks, I figured it was something like that, I was expecting a fuel rail return, not out of the filter. Now it makes sense, the black line is pulling from the tank, the stainless is the return. Wasn't exactly sure what I was looking at there at first.

On that filter set up any idea who makes it? I know it came from Speedway, but is it a Delco unit or a Wix unit, or something else? I contacted their sales dept and they didn't know which brand it was.

I had not heard of Nashville being called Nashvegas before. Thanks.

Actually the stainless is the filter/regulator feed. The black line coming from the same side of the filter/regulator is the return to the tank. The black line on the other side of the filter/regulator is the rail feed.

I am not sure who makes it. It is off of a c5 base corvette.

Small update.

New fuel pump installed. Waiting on a m18 to -10 fitting to complete the fuel system

Got my headers coated my SRP coatings. Look them up on Facebook. Awesome prices and quick turn around. I should have them back by the end of the week. Can't wait to see them in the engine bay.

I also had them powder coat my power steering bracket. Once I get that back, I can get the whole front end together and, fingers crossed, actually fire the motor.

Another update.

I got the headers back today. They look awesome. They are a little lighter in color that I thought they would be, but I think that I like them better that way. They match the color I want to paint the block, so that should look good. Again check out SRP coatings if you need anything powder or ceramic coated (https://www.facebook.com/srpcoatings)

From a fellow engineer and car guy, this is bad ***. Keep it up. I can only imagine what it's like working on a project for that long... my T/A has been down for almost 2 years and it's killing me! Also, interesting use of the CMM arm, I used those a lot at Honda, but we typically used the laser scanner for that type of stuff, which would have been prime for mapping the engine bay in your case!
