turbo 5.3 s10 build

Thanks their just grade 5 from napa for now. I figured since I don't have sticky tires right now i'm not to worried. i'm getting some grade 8's from a guy soon for free so these cheap ones will do for now. Nice Sarg, I just couldn't see myself spending another $1000 for a fourth gear. Around here you can get built 400's all day for $1200 so I went that route.

got some videos today. the shifter linkage somehow came loose so thats why it wasnt going into the right gears. when i put it in first and hammer it it shifts into second at 4500 and im positive its engaged in first so i think its something with not showing any vacuum so im going to put a full manual valve body in. anyway, these runs are all on 9lbs and it pulls pretty damn good but i cant pull through 1st all the way like i want. its a bit laggy and starts to make boost around 4000 but i dont mind it too much. with the street tires sometime it'll start spinning the wheels in first if it lets me spool the turbo fully. the videos arent the best right now but ill definately have better ones in the future. enough blabbing ill post the videos.

by the way, i love the sound my truck makes. when it spools it whistles pretty damn loud and the bov is loud as hell also. and the exhaust isnt too loud or too quiet. im suprised actually how quiet it actually is with the 3.5" downpipe with no muffler.

Thanks guys. I plan on wrapping that stuff up as soon as I get some spare cash. The converter could be hurting the spool also and I might put a Trans brake and some nitrous in when winter comes
I broke an idler pulley today at the local car show so I need a new one before I go back on the road. Also, when driving into town today it would overheat after driving for a while so I drove to napa. Got in the lot and took the cap off and got sprayed with fluid, ouch. Figured I had too much so I put more in after it all blasted out but not as much as before and drove it again. Got to the gf's house and it got to 235 again. Put a little more in again and it was around 225 the next few miles to work. After the show, I drove home and as I got close to my house radiator fluid blew out of the cap and the belt slipped off. I bet it got above 240 but im not sure. For some reason there is ALOT of pressure in the radiator. My intercooler is a few inches away from the radiator so I was thinking that enough airflow was getting to it. With so much pressure and heat in the radiator I would think a blown head gasket but theirs no white smoke from exhaust and at wide open throttle the air to fuel ratio is a healthy 11.8 and with a blown gasket it should go lean and sound like it was backfiring, or atleast my cutlass did that. The electric fans work and I have a 160 degree thermostat so im out of ideas.

11.8 is a tad on the lean side...I know there are plenty of people who will disagree and say lean is mean and all that, but for forced induction on pump gas I like it a bit fatter than that. The only time I have seen a radiator pressurize like that is from head gasket and busted sleeve.

Is the cooling system completely bleed, all the air out? Is the fill cap on the radiator higher or lower than the themostat housing/inlet rad. hose?

Yeah system is blead and I have overflow and I can see the t stat opening. Im leaning toward the fact that the intercooler is only a couple inches away from the radiator and won't allow enough airflow to the radiator

It's good no leaks. It's a 3 row champion radiator. It's ok on the highway but once I get into town it overheats. that leads me to believe it's an airflow issue. I'm going to remove the intercooler with some pipe just for now and cruise around just to see if that helps. If it does i'm either selling or trading my intercooler for a smaller one
