Talking 68 Camaro LS3 swap begins!

Hell guys, Im new around here. Ive been reading and reading for the last couple months. Have a 68 Camaro with a 383 stroker, with all the fixin's. M20 Muncie. Ive been wanting to go LSx for a couple years now. Well the opertunity finally came along. I live in northern ontario Canada so getting LSx motors and t56 isnt easy, costly to ship. Well a donner happend to land in my local scrap yard..... 08 LS3 Vette 6SPD paddle shift Auto. 20,000 KM on the car. It was writen off, highway dounut into a swampy ditch. Drive train is undamaged all the body panels are finished though. rear suspenstion and wheels look good. Front passenger is ripped off. So ill pull the LS3 and part the rest out. Find a T56 or maybe a TKO when the time comes. Ill post pictures of the camaro and Vette when I get home. Just thought I get a swap thread goin and hopefully add the great info ive already gotten from this forum!
Pictures comin shortly!

You will love this engine once the swap is done! I have only driven mine one time and its amazing the difference in useable power. Its night and day difference between the SBC and the LS. I swapped a 6.0/T56 into my 69 and am currently installing the Vintage Air. If I can be of any help feel free to ask. I look forward watching this swap take place. Keep the pics coming and any information big or small. Best of luck to you!

Default ehhh no ecm

Well the motor is ready to be pulled i got everything out of the way that needs to be. got the harness off and found the two ecm plugs are damaged pretty bad and the ecm is gone. The pass front wheel was ripped off in the accedent and it must have takin the ecm with it when it ripped off

So I have a few options get a new standalone harness and ecm
or
get another ecm and two new plugs for the harness and redo it when i mod the harness

I want to keep the tbw setup, also i have found that there is two different part numbers for the e38 ecm and one place says its this one and another says its the other. I need to know what one i need for a 08 ls3 vette auto trans (even though im not using the trans)

ANy help would be great thanks guys.

Call SSP wiring out of Arizona. They do awesome work for a fraction of the cost! Make sure to get the aircraft wire protector added. You can find them on Ebay and its cheaper going through them that route.

The front passenger side is toast the wheel was ripped off in the crash along with the ecm
The entire rear is good no damage there. All the front brakes were saved though, they will go on the car once i get wheels big enought to fit the massive rotors in. The back ones will get used to.
IRS 68 would be pretty sweet. Has anyone done this with a vette donner? Ive seen some aftermarket kits but no vette swaps.
The motor is out now I finished pulling it thisafternoon. Ill pull the rear IRS and tranny out 2morrow. Few more interior parts to slavage then time to hack it up with the plasma and ship it to the scrap metal place get a few bucks back there. Its to bad that the targa was off for the last month while it sat at the wreckers. The seats are wet and stink. I should be able to slaveage the cluster, wheel, door panels and stuff. See if i can get a few bucks sellin the little stuff. Help fund the swap.
Ill post more pics in the AM.

I will be follwoing this also. Doing a similar swap. I bought an 09 LS3 from a Vette for my 72 Vette. I already have a T56 installed but am just getting started yanking out the 383 and installing the LS3. I will do some head work with a better cam. Should be a fun ride. Keep the pictures coming.

You have alot of good stuff there, probably can sell some stuff and have enough money to finish the swap!

I used a PSI harness on my swap and it was bay far one of the best decisions I made they have excellent tech support and a very high quality product. I mounted my ECU behind the glove box along with the fuse block makes for a very clean install. Great choice of a car to swap but I may be a little partial...LOL

Vette is all stripped nothin but a shell and busted body panels time to sort it all out and toss it all on ebay. Then its time to start getting goodies for the camaro. Ive decided to go with a tko600 instead if the t56. My current lakewood bellhousing will work so im that much more ahead. Time to start tackling the harness

I have had both the TKO and T56 in my car. Nothing wrong with the TKO but the T56 is by far the better trans. It shifts much smoother and the gear ratios are much better spread then the TKO box. Granted the T56 is going to be more expensive since you already have some of the stuff for the TKO.
I just put in my LS3 yesterday for mock up purposes so it is coming along now. It will come back out for the cam and head work but I am trial fitting a lot of things right now.
