Looks awesome man. There's a reason that people put LS engines in everything.

Do you ever see a F-body guy doing a motor swap from a Mustang or any other 30 year old engine? Nope.

Don't forget the LS2/LS3. Way more power than an LS1.

BUMP!! Cool to see that it's finished. BTW the GM PCM can be retuned for the proper tach signal, no adapter box needed.

Very impressive project.

I have a few tips for you though.

Check out Renegade Hybrids. They do 911 LS1 swap kits. They make water port block offs that significanlty shorten the engine length. You then reroute the water through a meziere electric water pump.

Also, your box section intake elbow is very creative. You might check out theirs. It's a constant volume squished tube design. It may flow better.

But if it doesn't fit in my 911, I'm using your design!

Thanks for the heads up, I'll check it out. I actually recently redesigned that box design to something that would flow a lot better. That box was just a band aid until I could come up with something better. Here are some photos of the new design.

The actual fabrication of the adapter plate was done on a water-jet cutter. I pretty much designed and modeled it using SolidWorks online, then created an AutoCAD drawing version of the plate that was used to create a tool path for the water-jet cutter. The plate was cut from .5" 6061-T6 aluminum. I then took the plate and counter sunk all the holes that bolted into the engine, and tapped all the holes that the bellhousing bolted to.

Photos are a model of the plate and the stackup, model of the entire engine stack up cross section, my dad holding the plate right after it was cut out, after countersinking and tapping the holes, plate bolted to the engine.

Also I just recently redesigned the exhaust on it so any old pictures of the ridiculous vertical oval mufflers are a thing of the past. The next task is to fix the intake and get rid of that stupid ducting. I've got a 3.5" Y-pipe coming and I'm hoping to setup a duel intake system

Finally updated the terrible looking and sounding exhaust. Made a quick video just to show the new look and sound. I'm quite happy with the result :

Sure, just shoot me a PM next time you're coming through. I'm in and out of town a lot but as long as I'm available you can certainly take a look.

It handle's pretty damn well. I had already restored this car before the swap and that included quite a few suspension upgrades; lowered eibach springs all the way around, performance shocks, front lower control arm braces, rear adjustable lower control arms, and front shock tower strut bar. It handles like it's on rails, and the lower center of gravity allows it to corner pretty incredibly.

The biggest problem I run into is that since it has an open differential, the back end can get pretty squirrely if the roads are wet. There's a limited slip differential that I can put in that I'm looking at for a future project.

There are a few other videos on youtube of the car, though not really any of normal driving. I tried to run the car at a drag strip a few times earlier this year. Once I didn't have the right tires on the car, the other times the track either was rained out or my friends couldn't make it. Definitely planning on doing it in the spring though.

Haha, are you up in Dayton, OH? It came from a black 98 SS Camaro. Bought in late September 2011. Turned out great man. Glad you had the engine available when you did.

Also on a side note, I finally redid the exhaust and the intake so the vertical oval mufflers and the dryer hose intake are gone!

I was also actually weighing the car in the exhaust pic; 2,974lbs with a full tank of gas. 37% front, 63% rear.

All the build photos and info are at: http://ls1delorean.blogspot.com
