Default ls1 in a 68 camaro

Has anyone used solid motor mounts or do i need to run really motor mount?

I have a ls3 pan and SBC motor mounts.. it seems the pan is on the subframe, plus holes are a little off on frame mounts on one side..

thought i would add a pix

Sweet ride you have there!!!

I only know of one person on here that is using the Moroso solid mounts. Most people swapping in the LS engines are using the Energy Suspension poly mounts. That is what I used. I ended up flipping my adapters and in turn flipped the mounts. I had to do some slight modifications to make this happen but nothing too overwhelming. I dont believe the LS3 pan will work. The general public are using a few different choices: Moroso LS pan ( I used the deeper of the two and had to modify my subframe), Autokraft pan is popular, Street and Performance modifys the F-Body pan but is ridiculously high and thats about the best out there. The problem the first gens run into is the clearance at the rear of the subframe and clearance at the steering linkage. I have no issues with the steering nor the rear of the subframe but the belly of the pan rested on top of the crossmember. I am using Swaptech adjustable adapters set at the standard position.

thanks for the info tsnow678.

that the other problem i have the pan is sitting on top the subframe.. It cleared the steering with good space. i flipped the mounts, im going to try to reinstall motor again..

Nice looking ride!!!

I highly doubt you are going to get the LS3 pan to work, but give it a show. A lot of guys are using the Mast Motorsports LS conversion pan for 1st gen. I used that with S&P adpapters plates and my stock motor mounts. I had to grind the bump off the back of the stock mounts and enlarge the holes a little bit, but it fit with no problem. I am also using Stainless Work headers. They may need a slight dimple depending upon the gearbox your running, but I did not want to use ceramic coated headers again as I have never had much luck with the finish holding up to my liking.

Get a autocraft pan ,it clears nice!the S&P pan is too expensive plus there is some controversy about the baffling!

well i had to switch to energy motor mount. but the good news is the ls is in without cutting cross member . plus i didnt have to buy another pan.. so just for the record the ls3 pan will work.. i have a 1/4 inch between pan and cross member and plenty of space for the steering.

I went with the Holley pan--love that thing. Hooker headers and hooker sbc mount adapters. Works great!!

I am using Moroso solid mounts on mine. They are bolted to a sbc frame mount and the Moroso sbc mount welded to home made LS plate. That is a very nice looking ride you have there. What color are you going to go when painted?

I would keep an eye on this as 1/4" isn't much clearance once you start driving and torquing the motor.
