my vote is 4L80E...... with a brake.... . much as I love stick cars it just gets costly to put the power down and its really rough on the drive train when you do get one that hooks. awesome build tho.

Here are some more pics of my smoothed truck intake. It looks way better in pics than in person. I wish someone made an afordable aluminum intake that was compatible with truck accessories.

Intake is looking good man, I told my welding buddy about welding v-band flanges to the cast iron manifolds and he didn't know what rod to use?

I have had great success with er70s filler rod with tig. tack v bands on. preheat the manifolds in an oven for 20 minutes at 350f. weld manifolds and place back in oven and turn the oven off. Let them cool slowly. Never had one crack.

er70s with mig aswell.

I've just been welding on mine with the shop MIG welder. Has worked perfect. I didn't even heat them.

What sanding wheel or grit paper did you use brother? Have an extra truck intake or two, one's off an SS TB, that might be fun to scuff on after a frustrating day.

I started with an angle grinder and a carbide bit and then 80 grit paper and ten 600 grit paper. I wish I had taken more time. I rushed it cuz my boss was bitching about the bondo mess in the shop.

Making some progress. Sold the 454 Sunday so I finally have the funds to finish my project. Ordered a slew of parts and they started coming in. Some pics.

I don't think they look good enough to be worth the money for coating... I painted them with 2000* ceramic paint.
