Well we finally made it to the track for some test and tune passes. I was able to get the AMS set right for the crappy track conditions on the 3rd pass:
60' 1.460
660' 6.67
mph 104.34
1/4 10.61 @ 122.95 (rev limiter was on at 8-900ft, out of gear)
Launched at 6psi
1.0sec out 9psi
3.0sec out more 14psi (bringing boost on any sooner the car getting loose)
I was happy with how it did on the first few passes. I have some things to fix. I know on a good track I should be able to get a 1.39 60' and bring the power on out of the hole instead of 4 secs out.

Well, I made it to my first actual race day (track is prep'd best these nights) at my local track. I figured with the better track I should be able to add boost until I started spinning out of the hole. I turned the launch up to 8psi and then 0.5 secs out the boost jumps up to 14psi, holding 14 the whole pass (15* timing and 10.6 AFR the entire pass). This netted me the below #'s.
60' 1.42
660' 6.602
mph 103.7 (in high gear on 6000 rev limiter)
On 28" slicks with 3.70 gears that comes out to 23% tq conv slippage.![Sad](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_sad.gif)
I'm guessing with 3.25 gears and 5 to 8% slippage a 9sec pass will be no problem. I talked to Bradco and he will be going through the conv to tighten it up. It will be a couple weeks before I get the converter back, as Brad is going on vacation in one day for a week.
Think I'm going to go ahead change the gears out to 3.25s & add the trans & engine coolers that I was wanting add anyways. Updates and pics to come soon.

Well I got a new converter in the car and will be testing tonight and tomorrow. It is tighter, just dont know how much. It spools up on the brake about a second slower than before. I will post up the results.

UPDATE: 10.410@128.4
ok, new converter is much better. 5.24% slippage.
I need a to have the new gear installed (3.25). I was on the rev limiter at 950-1000ft this time. I picked up 6 mph and reduced RPM by 800. On that 10.41 pass was with a 1.58 60' . That pass should have been a 10.1x pass with my normal 1.42-1.44 60'.
Will update when I get the 9.99

Here a video of the car this past Sat. 1/8 mile racing. I got my best 60', 1.37. Time for an anti-roll bar I think.

Well, finally got the old 3.70 gear out and swapped in the 3.25 gears. I have not run it out yet because I've been running a local 11.50 index street car race each Thursday. But it has really responded well to the new 3.25 gears (picking up over 30mph in the 2nd 660'). Numbers below:
With AMS turned way down (2psi launch & 2psi for 6 sec and then up to 15psi slowly in the top of 2nd gear) it run the below pass.
1.804 -- 60'
5.152 -- 330'
7.662 -- 660' @ 100.02mph
9.612 -- 1000'
11.50 @ 130.2 mph -- 1/4mile

Great write-up and great build...
I'm a new member doing research on turbo LS motor builds, and am considering changing direction in my 240z. I'm looking at doing a built LQ4 TH400 build... If you don't mind me asking, what stall are you running, and can you get any boost on the footbrake? What RPM do you begin to build boost? Since I run an IRS, I prefer to preload the drivetrain and launch off of a footbrake...
Thanks in advance,
Mike

Sorry for the delay in replying. It flashes 3700 on the transbrake but does creep up to 4000 rpm on the 2 step. I can hold 8 psi with footbrake only (9" ford with the bigger 11" drums) before the car would push. I think im seeing 1 psi at 3850rpm as it spools very fast, 12psi at 4000rpm. I understand the importance of preloading IRS parts to make them last. I will say that other setups I've had or worked on, the rear disc brake vehicles can not build as much boost at the drum equiped cars, just FYI. Good Luck.
