So I have removed the old 374cu SBC to make room for the turbo LQ4. The vehicle is a '87 GN that is still a stock looking car (full interior and power everything) but is 8.50 cert. I'm guessing the car will be 3950 with driver. I will be reusing the turbo 400 and 9" since they are already built. Going to us HP tuners on factory drive by cable PCM.
Specs on engine:
- Complete drop out -- 2001 LQ4 with 32,xxx miles.
- Long block is completely stock except:
-stock rings regapped to .030"
-80lb Siemens Deka Injectors EV1 (PN: FI114961)
-ARP2000 rod bolts (PN: arp-234-6301)
-ARP Pro head studs (PN: arp-234-4110)
-LS9 head gaskets (PN: 12622033)
-LS9 MAP Sensor (PN: 12592525)
-yellow LS6 valve springs (PN: 12499224)
-Adapter Flexplate - LS to TH350/400 (PN: 12621399)
-Flexplate bolts (PN: 12563533)
-Flexplate Spacer (PN: 12563532)
-Edelbrock fuel rail kit (PN 3638)
Turbo stuff:
-PTE PT4788 T6 0.96ar
-5" Aluminum Downpipe
-Large Water to Air Intercooler (front mount)
-3" coldside pipes
-JGS 60mm WG
-JGS 50mm BOV
Going to try to use factory truck manifolds and do some type of crossover to the Passenger side, kind of like the factory hotside setup would have been in the GN 3.8L engine. Hope to place the turbo in a similar to stock GN arrangement also. We will see how that works out when I get the engine in the car and check for clearances.
The built N/A 374 ran 11.2 @ 122mph. I hope this "stock" LQ4 with 15 or so PSI isn't slower.
EDIT: it was faster at only 6psi it ran 11.10.
Guess we will see, many pics to come of the build.

Are you looking for mostly exhaust routing or just everything in general? It will be on the lift so it shouldn't be a problem to get whatever.

Shot of the oil pan. I can be pretty sure when I say the stock truck pan will not fit the factory g-body cross over. You can see in the second pic in this thread what my crossmember looks like now.

The idea of trying to replicate the hotside pipes from a factory GN 3.8L turbo setup kinda worked out. I was able to use the factory truck drivers side manifold in the stock direction. Chopped the end off and welded on a slight bent to a v-band. The factory manifold welded very nice, much easier than normal cast iron.

We did all the HP Tuners stuff loaded & get it fired up and idling very well. Surprising the 5" dump to the ground it not as loud as you'd think. I'm happy with everything we got done in the Friday night to Sunday work time. Just need to clean everything up now its a mess from trouble shooting a small issue.

Yeah, figured the 1400hp that turbo is rated at is good enough & will far exceed any set up I have in the few years. Twins are cool, just no need for them for my setup. All about the go, not the show. Lol
