66 Nova conversion
66 Nova conversion Hey guys,
Just getting ready to start assembling the longblock for my build. I have a few things to finish off with my minitub and also with my dash swap. But in about two weeks it will be time to get the motor completely together.
So far, the details are:
66 Nova (swapped out the fenders for a 67 front end)
Chris Alston's Chassisworks G-Machine front end
TCI 4 link
8.5" 10 bolt built by DTS with 30 spline Moser axles, Truetrac 3.73
Shortblock built by Billy Briggs with Diamond valve relief flat tops and Scat rods
Streetsweeper HT cam designed by Ed Curtis at FlowTech Induction
799 heads with a valve job from Ed Curtis
FLT Level 4 4L60e
FTI stall
CBR 1 3/4 headers, 3" x-pipe, 3" into Spintech Sportsmans, 2.5" over the axle
Retrofuel EFI OEM style tank with 2010 Camaro pump and corner pickups
The build started at this point, which is pretty much how I got it. This is after I unbolted the front clip and removed the rear axle and doors and got it up on the leveling table that I built. This is over 5 years ago:
And here it is today. Well, not actually today. This was a while back. Now its up on blocks to gain access for the Retrofuel tank install and Spintech exhaust install:

Can't wait to get started on the motor assembly. Hoping to have this thing on the road this summer in its multicolored glory!! LOL

Very simular to the build I am doing on my 66 chevy II right now.I am fitting everything then will disassemble everything to do bodywork and paint.Tell me more about the retro fuel tank setup.That is one thing I am trying to deside on is the best way to do a tank and pump setup.You do a good job taking pictures and documenting everything.I always plan to do that and don't ever get around to doing it lol.
The tank itself is the same type you see for sale everywhere, but Retrofuel is taking them and installing a 2010 Camaro pump. No sump necessary, sits below your trunk bottom (no cutting the trunk), and is a returnless system. Corner mounted pickups are also offered for optimal protection against fuel starvation. Tank material can be either ni-terne or stainless, but the pump mounting tray and rings are stainless. They are offering the same setup for about 4 other cars as well.
Checked out retrofuels website,looks like he has some good ideas.Is he actually supplying the tank setups yet or still in the planning stage.Please post up pictures of your setup if you have it already.I wanted a oem type fuel tank and planned to build myself one,but his products might make it a little easier.I see he offers a stainless oem type tank upgrade as you mentioned, that would be nice so the tank would always look good.I also like the fact that you dont have to have a sump hanging down.Do you know if he offers a complete ready to use tank setup or do you buy the components and assemble it yourself?Another guy called retrofit offers a kit very simular to do this that sounds very reasonable too.

Verdad Gallardo Centerline Retro's. 17x7 up front, can't remember the backspacing, Nitto Neo-gens 215/45/17. Rears are 17x9.5 with 5" BS and 275/40/17 Nitto 555. Car is minitubbed, and the axle was made to fit the wheels (bought wheels first, and measured for axle second).
