Default how to convert your LQx LMx to use an LS1 Alternator bracket

ok guys i got my LQ9 and i wanted to use an LS1 intake and all that stuff but then i got my bracket and i noticed the whole wasn't there for the alternator.

(barrowed this picture from another site.)
So i said well the spot is there why not make the whole. I was scared to death to do it but if i wanted to use the ls1 intake and all that good stuff so here are the tools you will need
a drill
i used 3 bits one small for the pilot hole one a little bit bigger and then an 11/32 bit
a 10x1.50 plug tap

So what i did was bolted the bracket on with the bottom bolt
and lined it up

I took a very pointy pencil and lined it up in the center

once i marked it i measured how much i needed to drill

and once i did that i used some tape to mark the bits so i knew how much i needed to drill

i didnt picture this but i drilled with a smaller bit first then a medium size bit then the 11/32 bit needed to tap the whole

once i got that done i tapped the whole with the 10x 1.5 tap

and then ended cleaned it with an air compressor and cleared out the and made sure nothing was left in there. here is what i ended up with

hope this will help everyone later on!

Looks good, I will be doing this tonight. I just purchased a "R" drill bit for that hole.

Default LS1 alt mount to LQx or LMx

Someone should sticky this, seems like a very well done writeup and it could save some search time. Just my 2 cents.

You know whats way easier is running the alt on the pass side. Top mount area.
Like the bracket i use on my cars. Plus i hate going down there to swap alternators and sometimes, the stock location hinders many turbo tubing routing options.

I made my own bracket for that on my S10..

But in my Monte Carlo SS I run the F-body Accessories with room to spare..
