I'm waiting to hear back from the guys at bigfastcar.com to see if their kit works on the older b-bodys. I had a 95 caprice with one of their kits in it before and it worked well. I'll let you know what they say. They're about the only parts I'm missing for the build at this point, even have a nice D&D built T56 sitting in storage.

now its what ive been waiting for test fitting the motor. i had bought a set of transdapt plate. i had one hard time getting it to fit. everything was in the way the oil pan, exhaust manifolds. it looks good in the pic but it has 1 mount in the hole with a bolt and its resting on the oil pan.
after buying f-body exh. manifolds and a gmpp oil pan i was almost ready. i seen a lot of people having problems with the same motor mount plates and seeing what a good set looks like i made my own out of 3/8'' plate. the bottom is the template. i actually raised the motor up 3/8'' and back 1/2''.
the motor is out of a 03 2500 truck with a lot of miles

Cool! I have a 79 Olds 98 2 door and spent grillions stroking a 455 to 495, wanting to go fast. Wish I knew a few years ago what I know now! I'll be watching this one close.

i also filled up the engine bay a little got my electric fan mounted, put my fan shround back on, started wiring a little and found a spot for my ignition box.

it was a whole lot better than the truck pan. it still hangs about an 1 1/2''. i didnt have to notch the crossmember, but when i put it on for some reason one of the hole in the block was missing. plus its a lot cheaper than the holley pan.

been gettin little things done but big ones. found a happy spot for my fuel pump and plumbed my fuel lines from the tank to the pump and from the pump to the filter. also finished fabbing my crossmember, might b opening a big can of worms with that one. i made 1 mistake with my crossmember i didnt make the cutouts large enough so i will have to buy some smashed pipes (whats wrong with those words, lol). my trans needs to come up so i fear i might have to cut another hole in the floors. surprising enough the hood just might clear my breather with minimum work.

well i got some time to sit down. i havent got much done but i have been collecting some parts to put me on the right track. one problem i know i have to do is cut my trans tunnel for clearance. right now the trans mount needs to come uo about .5'' to accomendate for my driveshaft angle. i got the ls1 intake for $20 but i am going to use the truck intake. i had to get a cable driven tb the original one wasnt. not much can be said about the quality of the pics, lol.

i got back n the garage last nite. for the short time i was in there i got a lot done and it was quite emotional. if youve never seen a grown man cry, watch him cut into his freshly painted floor boards. i guess thats y you mock things up. when it was all said and done the motor was level and im that much closer to drivin it

Very cool build man. I am actuall building a 4 door myself
(more info here https://ls1tech.com/forums/drag-raci...ic-4-door.html)
One suggestion if I may...
Originally when I had 350 in my caprice, I did a very similar setup on the tank...
While you are there, do yourself a favor! Pull the sender out and change it to a 1/2" pickup. I ran into some fueling issues when it was still the 3/8 pickup. I know it still has to get through the 3/8 line in the sender, but make the new pickup longer and run 1/2" you won't regret it.
I ran mine return style with an inline walbro pump, hence the other fitting on the back side of the tank.
It got me to bottom of the 12s with a best of 114mph

Ok i have a quick question on this swap....Why did you have to cut your transmission tunnel? Did you just have the engine sitting higher than normal? Im asking because Im going to be doing this swap within the next 2 weeks, a LQ4/LQ9 backed behind my built up 700r4 and just dont wanna cut my floor, lol..

Thanks for the compliments fellows. Ya I didn't figure one bolt wouldn't hurt but it seemed odd. the 700r4 is bigger than the metric 200 that came out of it. plus the mounts i made raised and moved the motor back. it was more or less a combo of accomedating a bigger trans, a different position on the motor and the carb mounting flange wasnt level. cutting the floor was neccesary in my case to get my driveline angle. i bought a pair of transdapt adapter plates. all they did was widen my mounts making it difficult to bolt it up and my oil pan was to close to the crossmember. its all a preference of how u want to do things. cutting my floor wasnt something i was ready for either u gotta do what u gatta do, lol. if i would've thought it through i would have got a 2004r its an overdrive but its the same size as a th350.
