Smoothed Truck Intakes
#302
Bumping this thread up since it inspired me to try my gen 4 5.3 intake. Alot of work, I would hate to know how much time I have in it, I just hope it doesn't disintegrate after a few runs.

Its pretty solid considering all the ribbing was ground off. On the front and back centered in the top of the intake there are 2 supports running inside to the bottom, so that helps alot. You can see the hole I had just filled in the first picture is one support, the other is at the opposite end and is still open. Those are stock I didnt add them, just found them when filling holes.

My shaved truck intake
I shaved my intake this fall and have had zero issues with it about 15 lbs of nitrous through it and lots of dyno time I don't have any great pics handy but here are two that you can kinda see it I can take more when I get home if anyone wants to see more. I really like the way they look. I have the itch for more power so it may be coming off....

I was wondering what the over all hight of the manifold measured out too after being shaved (vally cover to top). Wondering if its worth my time in a tight hood application or start searching for an ls1 intake.

I have one I could measure up for you that's shaved and painted, installed and It will be for sale as soon as I get my new one in 2 weeks. If interested let me know. It's got a good PPG epoxy primer with dupli color top coat. Changed directions color wise after I purchased paint. I used the Fiberglass method as far as repairing holes. 5-6 layers of resin and sheets.
