I thought I had more pictures of progress but I don't. Been dealing with a lot of small time consuming stuff, re-routing a brake line, figuring out hoses, wiring, etc... Still need to figure out what to do about the steering shaft issue. Possibly going to switch to a different radiator setup, should be going to the alignment shop in a couple weeks and be back up and running. Headers came off to put the tubular uppers on and to work on the brake line. Went to the junkyard and had a successful day, got a center console, some hood bolts (dropped one into the abyss of my truck), a 4.3 alternator to help clear the hood and some other small stuff. Test fitted the console, going to machine a bracket back up at school to located the shifter slightly forward and 2 inches higher.

UMI Lowers and QA1's will be the next step in my suspension build. Won't be until next summer though, then I'll have to do something with the rear end and suspension setup, then run something like a blazer tank or fuel cell in the rear for weight distribution. Hopefully I can get all that and a cam swap done next summer.

I haven't forgotten about this!

Haha, progress has been just about zero though. Been so busy now that I'm back up at school and on the swim team, traveling most weekends for meets so not able to make it home. And no money to buy parts

Anyways, was home for a few days for thanksgiving break and tinkered a little bit. Trying to figure out best way to work through some problems. I think I'm going to need to run a different radiator, that or find a smaller condensor that can fit in front of the core support and between the hood latch assembly. Has multiple issues, from hose routing, to interfering with intake routing, etc...

I think either way, the truck pump has got to go. Looking at switching to an LS2 style water pump with some spacers to get proper alignment. Next issue is the radiator, I may cut the filler neck on it and move it closer to the core support so it won't interfere with intake routing as much. May consider switching to a thinner radiator, this one is overkill for this engine anyways. Maybe a stock S10 4.3 radiator recessed and pick up a new core support from the junkyard to modify? Or a griffin perhaps? I want it to fit pretty flush with the condensor in front of it, so needs to be small. Would like to hear some peoples thoughts on these issues.

Some pics for your time and consideration.

Parts bin! haha You can see the radiator in this pic, and how far out the filler neck sticks out.

Picture for reference so you can see how far this radiator sticks out with the condensor in front of it.

nice build you have going on . Why not recess the radiator and use the CPW condenser in front of the core support ? Or one the same size for cheaper of ebay or something lol

Nice build. What are the throttle and cruise cables from? Are they all stock 4.3 cables or ???

Correct. Stock 4.3 cables, the bracket on the intake needs to be adjusted a little bit because just hooking everything up it pulls the throttle open just a little bit, so I had to open up the mounting holes and slide the bracket further forward.

You could get a smaller condenser and recess your radiator. Would look much better IMO. Cpw sells a smaller condenser but probably fInd one cheaper with a little searching

I haven't figured out what I'm doing yet with that situation. If I can find a deal on a CPW radiator and condensor setup I will do that. Otherwise I will just move the stock condensor in front of the core support and modify the hood latch assembly so it will fit, that way I can recess the radiator another 1.5" forward allowing more room for my intake routing.

Th original budget and time frame has just gone out the door with this truck. I'm going to buy another car this summer to daily drive and really do this build the way I want to. Which include a relocated fuel tank (blazer tank behind rear axle), longtube headers, built rear end, cam swap, maybe a different intake and some other odds and ends. May even just find a clean frame and have it stripped and painted.

Back from the dead...big updates hopefully to come over the next 2.5 weeks, good pile of parts waiting for me to come home for spring break on Friday.

Here's how the truck has been sitting the past couple months, dormant.

Here's a question for you LS gurus. When I ordered my harness and tune from Jared, I planned to run the original truck intake with the stock injectors. I picked up an LS intake complete with injectors and fuel rail that I plan to run now (yes my accessory drive is changing). My concern is with the injectors, I know I can buy adapter for my harness, but does the tune need to be changed for the new injectors?

just some food for thought... the explorer 8.8" axle from 4x4 is pretty beefy and will hold pretty much whatever you can throw at it... bolts right in... jeep grand cherokee shafts will clear the headers and bolt right up to the column and the gear box...

I've got a cherokee shaft slipped in right now, need to tweak it a little bit for final fitment. I've read about the 8.8 axle swap, if anything what I'll probably end up doing is buying an 8.8 with 3.73 gear and the factory locker and get it narrowed and custom axles made with the correct bolt pattern for GM wheels. Having two different bolt patterns would annoy the living hell out of me haha

But for now, I've got an Auburn posi and an LPW girdle I'm going to throw on my stock rear and weld up the tubes to the pumpkin. It should be able to hold up fine to my little 5.3/T56 for a while, especially on street tires.

no need to narrow it at all...just have the axle flange redrilled to 5x4.75 and get some wheels with a 7" backspace

After bleeding brakes in one car, changing oil in another, and changing tires and oil on another car, I finally got the truck into the shop!

Few issues I did run into however with swapping the intake. First issue is the throttle cable bracket. Going to have to do something with this. Truck intake bracket on left, F-Body bracket on right.

And the Map sensor is different than the truck one, do people just chop the clips off on one side of the sensor and run it? Cause as of right now, that's what I'm planning to do.

Update. Worked on the truck a little bit more today. Here's my bracket from LSBrackets, I took it to a friends house and sand blasted it and cleared it. Looks tons better than the aluminum stock finish it comes with.

Picking away at small stuff, trucks starting to come together. Relocated my electric fans, got my radiator hoses in, started pulling my harness apart to swap the EV1 pig tails on as soon as they come in.

Lower rad hose.
