84 Monte ss Ls build
Hello, I have been a member for a while reading and gathering parts. Now it my turn... I now have a motor and trans to work with. I have a 04 5.3 with DBW harness and a 03 2wd 4l60e trans. I guess my first question is what should I do convert to DBC or leave it DBW that really tells me what I need to do next. The harness is out of a 4wd truck so I know some wires are going to need to be removed, and my ECM is a 1220411. I would like to keep a/c and I'm running a F-body front fead... Here are some of my questions....
1. If I do DBW what peddle do I need? And what wire will need to be added for both?
2.what will my ECM support DBW or DBC or both?
3. I would like to if I can run my a/c with that ECM ?
4. I need part #'s for the trans cables. Also can I use the stock shifter?
5. I plan on switching to a car intake later is there something I can prep for now or should I just switch over now
6. What are you guys doing for a ob1 or ob2 Port ? I would like to use hptuner's ?
Please help me out with this to start. I can't wait to get it running also should I change the cam to like a zo6 or something? If you have any links to post that would help me out post them up...
Thanks

411 PCM would not have been used for a 2004 Truck engine. Ill try to answer your questions..
1. DBW, you will need a truck pedal and a truck tac module (has a metal mounting bracket on it). 411 PCM wont work with that setup. You need a green/blue.
2. PCM will support DBW or DBC, however, if you are going to run the later truck pedal and tac module, they will not work with the 411.
3. You can run your AC, but typically people wire the AC independently (see vintage air).
4. Stock Monte shifter would work assuming it was an overdrive car to begin with. If not, you will have to change the detent.
5. Do the car intake now as the injector connectors are going to change between car and truck intake.
6. You can use any OBDII port.
Hope that helps.

Ok,Small update on my build. I was able to get the engine in using Carshop 1inch setback plates with stock sbc clamshells. I have a G-force th400 crossmember I modified to work with the 4L60E. Now I have another round of questions.
1.Does anybody have part#'s for detent and throttle cables in a g body?
2.What are you guys doing to convert the signal from cable speedometer to vss signal?also does someone have a pic showing the difference in a fbody and 2wd truck 4l60E regarding the electric hookups..
3.I was able to get my hands on a ls1 auto harness with the matching ECM out of a 2000 firebird, will it work with the 5.3 ok? Or will I have to change anything? As far as sensors?
4. I would like to put a cam in this thing to wake it up, should I get a Zo6 cam or try for something else after I get it running good I plan on putting a turbo on it..
Thanks

Not highjacking the the thread, but on the subject of the 411 pcm ...
PSI/Jon.. just asking a question here.. I read somewhere that the 411 PCM can support DBW and that there is a early and later version of the 411 PCM. Only the Later 411 verion can handle the DBW (update OS or BIOS ?).. do you have the answer on this if True or Not ?

If you go DBW get the C6 pedal. Pace performance has it for like $70 while people try to sell used ones on eBay for $100++
It's closer to the original pedal then the truck pedal. I believe it needs slight bending to be at perfect angle.

Small update and question.. I'm at the wiring stage. I will be using a 2000 f-body harness and ECM. On the lt1swap.com site is see instructions to Convert a truck harness , would I use the same instructions to convert the f-body harness? The f-body part doesn't list the blue and red ECM plugs like the truck portion does. Or an I not paying attention and overlooking it? I'm stumped.... Sorry for the stupid question....
Thanks

If the harness schematics LT1 has are for a drive by cable truck, electrically they will be the same. The DBW schematics are where they differ. Keep in mind that the f-body will have a 3 pin MAF while the truck will have a 5 pin MAF.

Ok, Small update last night I was able to work on the harness a little bit. I went thru both the blue and red ecm plugs and pulled wires not needed for the swap. I noticed that on the lt1swap site that some of the wires when they are traced back thru the harness 5 of them go to connecters for sensors. Now I only touched wires that were highlighted blue or yellow. The wires for the senders do I need them to run the dash gauges? Also the C101,C105,C220 and C230 What needs to be done with these? do I pull and label them?Put them all together by color, If there was a couple of pics like there is when doing the truck part of the harness I could figure it out. Can someone post pics of what they did for this section of the harness. If I see it I can get a idea for what needs to be done. There are some videos on youtube showing how to 4 wire a truck harness but I can't find any for the f-body harness. I don't have the funds to pay a company to do it. It would blow my build budget I will just have to work at it until I figure it out. The first time is always challenging it gets easier the more you do it.If you have pics and don't mind post them up ,links whatever you have that can help.
Thanks

Hello, I have some new questions.. I searched threads but couldn't find what I was looking for,my ecm is in the car just trying to finish up the wiring. My first question is...
I have a fbody harness with a 1 wire alt plug that goes to the ecm. Do cut that wire to tie it in to the car? what are you guys doing here?
2nd question is... oil, coolant sensors.. Should I adapt the ones from my car and eliminate the ones from the swap harness or run both?
I didn't want to pull to many wires out my harness just to have to go back and put them back in...
Car is a 84 monte ss with a 5.3/4l60e ....
Thanks for the help

Wires from those connectors, most will go to your new fuse panel you will need to put together.

Hello, I want to do a cam change on my 5.3. I'm looking to do a ls9 cam swap and just wanted to know what valve springs I should use?
Comp 918,PAC 1218 or PAC 1518
I plan on running this cam for a while and just need to know what springs I should use. They are costly and I only want to buy them once for this setup..
Thanks
