Default Turbo'd with truck accessories

Figured this would be a better place than forced induction since no one with a LS1 f body runs truck accessories.

Looking for pictures of what you've done for a front mount turbo setup with truck accessories.

Kinda thinking of doing up and forward with truck manifolds but Im not sure yet. I'd really like to use the OBX up and forward headers but I dont think they will clear the alternator.

in my mustang i have them pointed front/down and it works nicely that way. forward/up will probably be better for acc clearance though. or manifolds off something else maybe

I cant do forward and down really on the drivers side, want to keep the power steering.

I might try to get a LS4 manifold to use on the drivers side.

Check my Chevelle build, I used truck accessories and manifolds flipped forward and upside down. Very much the same just a little bigger.

Forward and upside down on mine. Cut mine up a little too. I was going to run the forward and down but the big alt, ps bracket was in the way. Then to get the motor under the hood of my car I used weld on mounts to get the motor closer to the subframe and had to cut the passenger manifold closer to the @2 exhaust port and add some 2.5" tubing at an angle to clear the upper a-arm.

If you have to you can cut and weld on these manifolds. Some say you have to preheat but I never did, I just burned hot. Hope that helps.

I have a buddy that could weld v bands on them for me. I wanna try to keep it low that's the only thing I don't like about using truck manifolds, the drivers side sticks up really high.

Depends on the angle you weld the flange on. I mounted mine and cut it in the car and tacked it in place in the car so I was sure it all fit. Then I pulled it all back out and finished welding.

X2. I cut and angled mine back to the merge and welded the original exhaust flange back on. Accomplished 2 things, shortened the manifold, and changed the angle to meet my needs.

Found this earlier. Not sure if the reservoir on my PS pump will clear them or not though.

Other then that, I am happy with them so far.

Here are a bunch of pics of them mocked up...

Truck manifolds forward with truck accessories including fan. I welded a piece of 2.5 pipe to the manifold where I cut it and snaked it behind the ps pump and around the steering in my Gbody. It can be done.

Thumbs down My $.02....

Not sure what those guys at OBX were thinking to make those pipes 1 7/8"...A pipe that big, unless it's fed by a BUNCH of cubes, is pretty much worthless on a street type engine.....Poor flow velocity, excessive surface area, that will dump heat..None good for a good spooling system. Not to mention space considerations. Race system, ya. Street strip.. nope.
