4.6 motor mounts on 5.0 K-member?
im going to use the UPR LS1 adapter plates with 4.6 mustang motor mounts...what im wondering is this: can i use my 5.0 K-member? would i have to elongate the mounting holes in the K member?
i was going to ask on corral.net but questions like that always turn into a pissing match on why someone would put a GM motor in a mustang..

In case you're still wondering, yes it can be done. I felt like UPRs adapter kit was a little much seeing as you can get 4.6 motor mounts on ebay for $30, so I made my own. 1/4" shim plate bolts to the block behind the motor mount and then roughly a 1/2 thick piece of rubber to absorb some vibrations (solid motor mounts). So pretty much I made my own swap mounts for roughly $35 (had to buy some hardware from Home Depot)

I am a UPR dealer so price isn't a concern. I picked up a 4.6 k member for 40 bucks. I have less than 140 in the k member and upr adapters and 4.6 motor mounts. I did consider the fact of making my own adapters

It "might" physically bolt into the 5.0 K-member but you are going to have some issues. The 5.0 mounts sit further forward on the K-member, they are at different angles from the 4.6 so the 4.6 mounts more than likely wouldn't sit flat.

I spent about half the day Saturday messing around with the 4.6L motor mounts and the stock 2.3L k-member (basically the same as a 5.0 k-member) and I believe I can definitively say no, it won't work. At least not with an fbody oil pan and a 2.3L power brake booster. I bought the motor mounts used for $30, so not really a big loss there.
I'm really not even sure that if I took the fbody oil pan off, if the mod motor mounts would sit on the 5.0 k-member before the bottom of the block hit the steering rack. The block may hit the oil pan before the mounts hit the k-member. There is at least three inches of space between the 2.3/5.0 k-member and 4.6L mounts when the oil pan hits the rack. The oil pan is only a couple inches tall where it hits.
Removing the mounts and just putting the engine where it seems to fit still necessitates alot of mods to either fbody oil pan or k-member.
Honestly I had planned to get the fbody LS1 to work on the stock k-member, but I don't see it happening without cutting and welding something (k-member or oil pan) and then severely hacking up my Accufab 1 7/8 headers. Right now time is worth more than money, so I think I'm just going to buy a tube 4.6L k-member kit that works with the fbody oil pan and call this part of the project done.

no, it will not work..the motor placement will be off and the cradle is wrong...this is why i went with the UPR 4.6 K member, LSX adapter plates and 4.6 solid motor mounts..

I just did this exact swap, I tried using the 5.0 k member. But the "pads" that the mounts sit on are lower and farther apart than the 4.6 Kmember. I picked up a 97 year model Kmember (4.6 and 3.8 are all the same FYI, it's just the motor mounts that are different) and still had to do a little work to get it to fit. But it's in there now. I am using the fbody pan, it may work better with the CTSV pan.
