69 opel GT
Got started tonight on a swap I havent yet seen here on tech, a 69 opel gt. This will be a daily driver type car hopefully with ac even. I am starting out with two opels, one pure drag and one pure street. taking the glass and interior from the street car and putting them into the drag chassis.
The good news is that much of the hardest work is done, tube chassis, 4 link rear, cage, and car has a SBC/glide prior. bad news is the cage was setup for a much shorter person so I will have to cut out the cage entirely and reconfigure the chassis to accomodate my 6'5 frame and allow for a passenger seat. I do fit in the street car so I know its possible, just going to require fabrication.
Once I get my phone to cooperate I will gets pics posted up.

It is perfectly normal for the knees to show when trying to drive that car. I had a buddy with one it is a nightmare to get in and out of with the full cage.
Instead of modding the cage put a sunroof in it. LOL.

Well with a iron block sbc and a power glide with driver it weighed 1900. I will probably break close to even with a aluminum block but heavier 4l60 trans. Add passenger seat. Turbo and accessories ect and ballparking 2200 pounds ish. I'm sure this thing will be a handful. My camaro with 800 hp through a t56 and 3.73 gears would smoke the tires from a 3rd gear roll. The turbo should bring power on a little softer than the procharger I had. When your car can scare you just a little bit you know its fast enough

Been fairly busy with work but had the time this week to pull the transmission out of a donor 98 chevy silverado. 4l60E. also finished pulling the guts out of my camaro motor that cracked the block at 900 horsepower so I can use the empty block for general fitting purposes

baby steps
Got my first day off in a month and a half so went to my garage after getting some house chores done. Almost done cutting the cage out. Removed the lexan front and rear windshields as well as the rear quarter glass. bolted by cracked block to the 4l60 trans I pulled from the silverado. bolted the heads and accessories back on with a couple bolts hand tight for fittament purposes.
Next step is to buy rims and tires for the back to see how far I can shrink in my wheel wells to accommodate a bigger fuel cell. As well as leg room.
the reason why I can only use that block for test fitting

finally got the motor coming and it should arrive tomorrow, got a 2010 6.2 ls3 and a 4l80 trans from a fellow tech member, turbos and cam will be ordered next week. Question is what if anything will I need to swap in the harness or ECU to get the computer and trans to play nicely? original trans for the computer was a 6l80
