Thanks everyone.

"Can someone drop some 6L80/90 transmission knowledge on me? Are they tough? How do you control it? Are the shifting parameters programable?"

I saw where the 6L80 can handle 600rwhp when tuned right. The 6L90 is beefier and can handle more power. It is also a little longer than the 6L80. These transmission have their own computer built in. However you need an ECM such as the E38 to communicate with them. Yes they are very programmable.

I am leaving the Skylark fender emblems and the hood ornament off the car until the painting is complete. I will also remove the mirrors and a few other items for painting.

Looks Good!!! I thought the same way about raising the rear of my car a 1/2" to an inch, so I bought 1" spacers. I ended up pulling them back out because the lower stance looked better!
Cheers

Thanks, I will put a few miles on the car before I make the final decision on raising the car. Today I put on the coated cold air intake. It has what is called a "piston top" coating on the inside for the thermal barrier. It is kind of a green color but hard to tell from the picture. On the outside is the standard black thermal barrier coating. Here are some pictures.

Looking great.

You can get a little OBDII bluetooth adapter and use the application Torque to monitor AITs. I have a trip planned and I am eager to see how the shaker on my GTO effects AITs.

Thank you for the heads up. I do have an outside air temperature guage on the dash and it would be real easy for me to put the probe up by the airfilter. I think I can also read the IAT on my scanner.

As you guys know I just got the car back a couple of days ago and it was throwing some codes. Here are the solutions that I found.

One was a MAF code P0102. This turned out to be that I needed to swap two wires on the MAF connector. The pink with the blk/wht wires. This was because I needed to make the 2008 Escalade L92 wiring harness match up to the LS3 card MAF that I am using.

2nd was a U 0100 code or ECM losing communications. This turned out to be that I had the main wiring harness resting on the #1 ignition coil and possibly #3 as well. I made a stand to support the harness off the #1 coil and the problem appears to be solved. I have attached a picture.

Last is lean codes on banks 1 and 2. I think a tune will solve that. I hope this helps anyone with these types of problems.

Finally received a nice used factory dash pad for my car. A good one is very scarce but after looking for nine months I got one. So to celebrate I took a couple of pictures.

I painted the interior floor a white color to match what was on the car. The paint is similiar to POR 15.

Here is a list of the major to-do items.

1. Install the Dynomat
2. Get the car tuned.
3. Get the exterior paint done.
4. Finish off the interior with carpeting and cover the back seats.
5. Get this sucker on the chasis dyno and see what she will do.
6. Take her the track to see what times she will run. Hoping for a 10.99.

Which torque converter did you put in your trans? 10.99 will be a pretty tall order unless you have a pretty serious stall converter.

Just wanted to give an update and a data point with regard to my AITs. I got the bluetooth adapter working with my phone and it works great with the GMPP ECU.

We were stuck in some heavy traffic and the car sat idling for 30 minutes. Even with the shaker scoop, the AITs got pretty high. Ambient temps was about 90 degrees and the AIT got to about 130 degrees.

However, as soon as the car got moving, the started to drop very quickly. When going down the highway AITs hovered about 7 degrees above ambient.

I think that if I paint the shaker tub and intake tube with some kind of insulating paint, the heat soak issue would be much less.

I am eager to see how your intake works.

What are the pros and cons of having the metered air bung/port in the CAI to the pass valve cover? Is this absolutely necessary ?

No, you can put an air filter on the oil filler tube as another way of doing it. Basically you just need filtered atmospheric air on the inlet side of PCV system.

The interior of your car is sexy clean. I love the gauge panel.

If you are running PCV to intake vacuum, you should run it from filtered, metered air. If you run it from an unmetered source like a simple air filter on the oil filler tube, it will affect the A/F ratio.

I have been having a problem with a code U0100. This code is "lost communications with ECM/PCM A". I have been trying different things to no avail in solving the problem.

Went on the "diagnostics and tuning" section and posted some questions. After some discussion I think what the problem is that my E38 ECM and my 6L80 TCM are not compatible. I pulled the fuse power to the TCM and viola the problem went away.

From what I understand both the ECM and TCM need to be from the same year otherwise you might have problems. I pretty certain the ECM is out of a 2008 Escalade even though I was told a 2009. I have no clue on the 6L80. It could be out of a 2009 Silverado for all I know. I did not realize this might be a problem when I bought it. The price was right so I jumped on it.

So I will probably have to have the 6L80 TCM reflashed to a 2008 year model. Maybe a 2008 Corvette if that will work. That would be best. I will keep everyone informed I what I find out.

Today's update: With my scanner I was able to retrieve the vehicle Vin#. I got online with Carfax and paid a $1 fee to get the vehicle information. Found out it (E38 ECM) came out of a 2007 Escalade. It was a 4 door sport utility with a 6.2L motor, AWD and an A6 transmission.

Being that the E38 is out of a 2007 Escalade and the 6L80 is probably 2008 or newer that explains the compatability problem on the GMLAN communication system. I don't know if I can retrieve the transmission Vin# or not with my scanner. I will go out and give it a try.

Also I am not sure how the AWD in the E38 will effect things. I may have to get the ECM re-flashed to a later year such as 2008 Escalade 2wd and maybe reflash the TCM to the same year using a 2008 Corvette tune. Stay tuned.

1989GTA,
Thanks for the heads up on the metered air port/bung.

Sounds like you are getting to the bottom of the problem. Carfax is useful after all.LOL
